Amazing value
I came here with my wife for a little getaway and the setting was lovely next to the river and the staff were lovely and friendly especially paul who could not do enough for us. We walked into Arundel along the river side which is a nice long walk, when we got back we had a lovely meal there and the food also is to a very high standard we both agreed was very delicious and also the beer! The room was basic but very clean and suitable you can hear the faint sound of trains at times due to there being a station near by but that didn’t bother us. Breakfast was also delicious All in all we would highly recommend this place.
Excellent value for money
Stayed just one night in a double with river view. Bed was comfortable, lovely hot shower and very clean. Toiletries are provided too as well as tea and coffee. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Walking distance into town. A little further along the river and you reach the beach. We ate in restaurant, lovely fish and chips with very reasonably priced wine. Definitely go back another time.
An excellent meal
I ate in the restaurant of the Arun View Inn as I was staying there for 2 nights. I had booked for 7.30pm on both nights. The first night I waited for 40 minutes before stopping one of the servers to say that other people were being served that had arrived after me. The server very quickly took my order, & I waited a short while longer before my starter arrived - tempura battered prawns with a sweet chilli dip. My main course - Seabass with a white wine and herb sauce - arrived after a bit of a wait. Both courses were delicious, nothing to fault except the long wait. On the second night the service was a little bit quicker - I had a whitebait starter with lemon mayonnaise, & a fish & chips main...again all delicious, and very filling. I would love to return. The only reason for not giving 5 stars was the long wait. The food was definitely 5 stars.
Sunday Roast
Best roast dinner in area, veg was cooked perfectly, gravy delicious and meat cooked very well. Partner and I had pork and lamb. Lovely setting right by the river. Very clean pub, nice staff very friendly
3 night stay, great views over river, shame about the problems
My father booked this accommodation based on what he read on the website. Given that both my parents are both 80 it was a bit of a shock to find that access to the rooms was by 2 very steep flights of stairs which are accessed by going through the bar and is not mentioned in the description of the accommodation. There is also access via the external fire escape but this has large steps and at the bottom was covered is discarded cigarette ends. The rooms themselves were adequate and as the website said they had been recently refurbished we were suprised that in one room the radiator was broken and stuck on maximum all the time and the handle in the shower door of other room was broken. The showers were great and worked well but it was very difficult to get any hot water from the taps even when running them for 5 minutes. The restaurant was closed for redecoration which we were aware of but did not realise that the only place to have a drink was in the public bar which was noisy, busy and small, breakfast was also served in the bar area and was ok but nothing special. They did offer a discount when we left which was appreciated, most important thing they need to do is mention the access to the rooms on there website as this isa real issue for those who struggle with stairs.
