This hotel needs renovation

Reviewed 22 may, 2022

This hotel is clealy old, and in need of renovation. Malfunktioning air condition gives much too high temperature in the room, especially as the windows doesn't open. A small fan on the floor is NOT enough. The service is ok. Location is good, many attractions within walking distance.

Okay for a night...no more than that..

Stayed here recently for a few nights. Pros.. okay location, the restaurant staff are friendly and helpful. The room was clean, and the bed big and comfy. Cons.. The bathroom way too small. No grab rail in the bath/shower...this should be mandatory when the shower is over the bath and when the space is a tight as this was. Very poor lighting in the room, just a small ceiling light by the door and 2 beside lights, the room was really dark and gloomy. Not enough lifts for the size of the building. Only the restaurant bar was open and not the main bar...way too busy and crowded in the evenings. Badly in need of refurbishment, everything from the flooring to the decor needs updating. Would we say here again sadly it's a no from me, there's far better to be had.

A tatty 4* hotel

Reviewed 22 may, 2022

Nice helpful staff. Front of house and duty manager very nice. Let down by a hotel that feels unloved by the Accor Group. Place feels grubby, stains on walls, chipped/scratched paintwork, damaged furniture, mould on windows, mould on curtains, dirty plates in the restaurant, running out of food, bar ran out of ice. Our complaints were dealt with immediately by the duty manager who carried out excellent service recovery which I could not fault. It’s just a shame Mercure have neglected the place. Good location by the waterfront, short walk to all Liverpool has to offer and nice staff. However, we would not stay there again.
