Lovely stay in a royal city

Reviewed 9 september, 2021

The hotel is right by the castle, church and dungeon., located in a very quiet area. We received a warm welcome. The owners are very interested in the history of the area.; you'll get plenty of tips and ideas for things to see in the area. We went for a stunning walk around the castle in the evening, right next to the hotel, it was quiet and the buildings were lit up. The hotel and room are beautifully decorated. There are books and leaflets about what to do in the area.

very disappointing

If this establishment was twice as good as it is it would still only be half as good as it thinks it is. Poor level of service NO vehicular access even to drop off luggage and on a rather steep and cobbled alley. Close to chateau though

disappointing

Not clear from directions that it is impossible to drive to property even just to unload luggage and nearby parking isn't very easy to find a space in, definitely not suitable for anyone with even slight mobility problems, very steep stairs to all rooms

What a unique and brilliant hotel

Reviewed 6 november, 2017

A fabulous little hotel almost impossible to find, right next to the Château in Loches. It’s best to call to give arrival time so the very friendly and helpful hosts can meet you and guide you to the almost hidden entrance. Park near the Château main gate and someone will meet you there. Unique and quirky rooms, individually decorated and furnished with ornaments, pictures and books (not your average hotel room at all!) Comfortable beds and an excellent buffet breakfast (no restaurant) of fresh bread, croissants, cereals, yoghurts, jams, fruit etc. The hosts (Claude and his son Tomas) are outstanding. Interested in the guests and a mine of local knowledge and advice. 50 m from Château entrance and 100m from centre of town with wide range of good bars and restaurants . Loches is a mediaeval town with lots and lots of history, including some occupation by the English way back, and it’s also the birthplace of Joan of Arc. Worth a minimum of a full day’s exploring.

Quirky and historic hotel

Reviewed 6 august, 2017

We stayed here for one night. The hotel is opposite the historic chateau and dates back to the 16th century. The accommodation retains all the old features but is very comfortable. The owner and his son are very charming and make sure you have a comfortable stay, they even walked back to my car with me at 9.00pm in order to direct me to a more convenient place to park. A memorable stay.
