Never Stayed
I am from Canada. I booked this hotel for a few days during June 2020. To save money, I choose to book a non-refundable room. A mistake I will never make again. I then found out there are rooms in the basement. I do not want a room in a basement. After experiencing trouble contacting staff I called and spoke to someone. It was difficult to hear as it seems the lobby is a coffee shop. I said I don’t want a basement room and they could not assure me of such but would make a note. I wrote an email hoping to speak to management, asking the same question, and got a rude reply from the same staff member. Then another staff member answered and said they would get back to me. No one ever did. As we all know, travel is no longer possible and the event I was going to had to be canceled. I wrote another email stating it is not possible to travel, and asking if they would consider, knowing it was non-refundable, refunding even a small portion as I can’t even travel.... Again silence. No one has even written to say no. Also tried to find the corporate office and contact them - I could not find a number or an email for them. I haven’t stayed there but would not recommend the hotel based in the level of service I received.
Great experience
We stayed in one of the rooms on the ground floor. The room was good, no windows but it wasn't a problem for us. Slept really good and the bathroom was very nice. The breakfast was also good, nothing special but we were happy and comfortable. The staff were super friendly and kind, always happy when we returned to the hotel. We were very satisfied with our stay.
Disaster
It was awful. Windowless room... Breakfast disappointing, design very old and the room very small. I had asked for an accessible room and they gave us one, but the wheelchair couldn't pass the bed corridor to get to the accessible bathroom... We return one night and we had leaking waters in the bath, and the next morning we found out that from our room they were dripping IN THE KITCHEN! Only the employees helped us and guide us...Very good people. The management was absent.
Shower temp control broken and noisy receptionist in the evening
Left the hotel feeling dissatisfied for numerous reasons. The temperature control in the shower was broken and only VERY hot scolding water came out of the shower. Sadly, we had to hand wash at the bathroom sink - which is extremely dissatisfying. I wanted to speak to the receptionist about it once I realised it was broken in the morning - but the cafe/reception area was full of breakfast guests and I wasn’t in any fit state to go out in public to complain. When I spoke to the receptionist about it at breakfast time (after I had washed at the bathroom sink) she took me back to room and showed me that I needed to force the knob with as much exertion as possible to change the setting to allow colder water to flow. Shame I wasn’t shown how to do this the night before when I booked in. I explained the panel was broken and needed replacing or repairing - but the receptionist just explained lots of things were not working in the hotel and left it at that. We stayed in room 001, which shared a wall with the cafe/kitchen/reception. Once the cafe was shut to public the general noise receded, but sadly the receptionist was laughing and talking so loudly that it disturbed our relaxing time before bed time and our sleep. Thankfully she finished her shift at 11:00 pm and the new receptionist showed a lot more respect to the guests who could hear the cafe/reception area. The location is in a good area for many tourist attractions and the tube. Although we found it difficult to locate the hotel when we first arrived as it’s front is a cafe and doesn’t look like a hotel at all. We walked past it numerous times before we recognised it as a cafe / hotel. There were no windows in our room, the ventilation was terrible. Bearing in mind it’s February, about 4 degrees census at night, we were not using any bed covers - it was just too hot in the room, very stuffy and stifling. No matter how I set the ventilation panel it made no difference. I would have given this rating a higher score but I wanted to have a shower and simply couldn’t. My advise - book somewhere else or request that you don’t stay in room 001. London is a big place with plenty of places to stay - with showers that work, quiet rooms away from noisy receptionist, and with working ventilation!
Não é mau, é péssimo / It's not bad, It's terrible
A reserva mencionava “standard double room”. Fiquem longe deste lugar. The 4 star rating is clearly misleading, in my opinion 1 star would be enough. I don't think we can call this place a hotel. It is a café with rooms, the reception is a counter overlooking the kitchen. I made a reservation for two adults and an 11 year old child and specifically chose a room with a view. The reservation mentioned “standard double room”. When we arrived, a room in a basement, about 7m², with no window or ventilation, with a small double bed was waiting for us. About the cleaning, I leave photos, see for yourself. When we asked if there was a possibility to change to another room since we were 3 and there was only one bed, they told us that was possible but we would have to pay 200£/night. Stay away from this place.
