Exceptional customer service from Raul Rubio👏
Im a hotel guest at Sofitel and as I was walking by the main entrance kind of lost looking for a breakfast place, Raul greeted me without even knowing that I was a guest. I then felt comfortable to ask him for suggestions for breakfast places near the hotel. The way he treated me and going above and beyond to find a place where I could eat and work was beyond my expectations. He called a place to check availability and becuase they didn't have wifi ...he then showed me some nice and quite places in the hotel where I could work and he also suggested places where I could order food . During all this time I thought he was the hotel manager. It was surprising to know that he actually was a security agent. It's amazing to see that there are employees that really care about the customers and surpass thier job descriptions to provide exceptional customer service and make the guest feel welcome and appreciated. The hotel owner should be greatful to have an employee like Raul.
Avoid- No better than a holiday inn
The Sofitel is a terrible hotel that is operating on a shoe string. It is comparable to a 2.5 star Holiday Inn but is charging 4 star LA prices. Avoid it! * There is no staff working at this hotel (only one person at the front desk) and no services are available. The hotel does not have food or a coffee stand. * When I arrived at the hotel, a staff member outside did not greet me or ask if he could help with luggage. * The vibe inside the hotel is almost funereal. * The furniture in the room looks as if it came from IKEA * The pool is tiny and is a long walk over a bridge from the hotel. I would never sit there. * You need an appointment to use the fitness center * The location of the hotel is in a terrible "no mans land" in LA. The only thing nearby is a large shopping mall (the Beverly Center). You have to walk 15 minutes to arrive at a Starbucks, and there are no restaurants anywhere near. The only good thing that I can say about this hotel is that the staff was very nice and friendly. The Sofitel might argue that many of these problems are due to COVID. However, right before checking in at the Sofitel, I stayed at the 1 Hotel in West Hollywood. It was fully operational and had a great vibe.
Excellent staff!
Stayed here two nights, and we were pleasantly surprised. Although we had to ask for bathroom amenities (the only small glitch...when we were asked,”How much do you need?”), ha! We knew what you meant. All of the staff here was consistently very pleasant and friendly. That makes a big difference in hotels that are sometimes expensive just for the fact that their location is in a city and close to shopping. We were welcomed and spoken to each and every time we either came or went; not intrusively or in a shallow manner, but genuinely and in a friendly manner. That upped the comfort level considerably. The room was nice, and we didn’t mind an eagle’s nest view of the Bloomingdales building across the street on our side. The noise of the street was a small issue the first night, because even on the 10th floor, the sound of sirens (hospital right there) and loud mufflers makes it through. We used a noise machine; problem mostly solved. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The proximity of restaurants was great (breakfast at Norm’s...old style family restaurant with wonderful food) in lieu of the hotel restaurant being still closed, worked just fine. We’d recommend the Brazilian restaurant on the hotel list (amazing), and El Coyote restaurant (also very good) if you like Mexican food (a necessity for us). Overall, we can’t say it enough (again) about the staff of this hotel. They made all the difference.
This hotel is a gem
This hotel is a gem! Wonderful location, spacious rooms, and most importantly, amazing service. My entire experience in this hotel has been amazing. Not only is this hotel amazing, but they have a helipad, where you can elope on, have your proposal, have a photoshoot or even a filming. Cecile and Rachel are two ladies I have had the pleasure working with when hosting my events on the helipad. They are communicative, organized, and such sweet women to work with. Rachel, thank you so much for keeping everything so organized not only during my events, but during my stay at the hotel as well :)
Above and Beyond Customer Service
Our son just returned from a stay here and accidentally left his clear invisalign retainers in a glass on the bathroom counter. Fortunately the room had not been cleaned by the time he was back in Florida and realized. He called the hotel at 4am Sunday their time and was put through to Raul Rubio in the Security Department. He took it upon himself to go out of his way to find the retainers and notify us immediately by email and phone as he knew they would be expensive to replace. He provided us with information to arrange for shipping and was in touch with me every step of the way, including a follow up reminder Monday morning letting me know he didn't forget and him personally going to Fedex to drop off the retainers for shipping. Unfortunately, it is extremely rare to find this kind of personal service and I am extremely impressed by this gentleman who could not have been happier to help! I don't usually take the time to write reviews but Raul most certainly deserved some recognition!!!
