Great Customers service!!
Want to give thanks to Pil from the front desk. He was very helpful to my friend and I when we were staying here. He to care of us when we need help from changing rooms since we need to stay another couple of days. He was very considerate and understanding about our situation. And offer to help if we need anything else.
DO NOT STAY
My daughter and boyfriend came to California for her birthday. They left last night for dinner and unfortunately left their room key in room. They called repeatedly the emergency 24 hour number for hours!!!!!!! Finally at 7:20am this morning they were let into the room and was told "it was their fault" ... Even though the security guard never showed up to work. They also had called the other hotels owned by these people and even though they answered not one was willing to help. Where is the owner or manager? My 22 year old had to sleep in the car in LA!!!!! Very unprofessional. I get accidents happen but how about some decency and at least offer an apology! Yes she is upset, she was scared to death sleeping in her car for 9 hours! Your responsibility to make sure your workers show up! If they don't they you do it. That's what managers do. I own a business, I know. Customers first. Next time have a little empathy and compassion. It goes a long way.
Barebones, no service outside limited hours
I booked this hotel for a week long stay. EXTREMELY limited front "desk" hours -- was told I could check in only after 8am, and I've never seen anyone there after about 3pm. The rooms are sparse, the walls are very thin, and you can hear (and smell) other guests all the time. All this culminated on the last night when I got locked out of my room around 11pm. There is a phone number listed for after hours "security" but no one answered all night. I saw another guest show up with luggage in tow around 1am who was also unable to into contact with anyone or enter the hotel. It's now nearly 7am and still no response to my repeated calls and messages.
Clean, Amazing Location = Great Place To Stay On A Budget
After learning that I would need to head to the Hollywood area of LA for a last-minute business trip this past November, I began looking at hotels in the $75-150 price range. I didn't expect to find luxury properties, but I *was* hoping I would find somewhere safe and clean. I also wanted to stay somewhere with a boutique/local feel, as opposed to a major chain (which would give me the same experience I could get anywhere on the planet). Of the dozens of properties I considered, The Hotel Hollywood seemed to be my BEST bet for those requirements. After staying there this past November, I am confident that it was. I was there to attend some music industry-related functions at a West Hollywood studio and at some concert halls (including the Fonda Theatre and the Palladium). To that end, the location was absolutely perfect. For those interested, it was also near the Walk of Fame, within close driving distance of some other tourist locations, and also just a short walk away from plenty of bars and restaurants (albeit fairly "mainstream" ones). The location felt safe as well. As for the hotel, it lived up to its billing of being clean and charming. Make no mistake - the room was TINY, but it's more than sufficient for a single traveler (or a couple) that doesn't plan to spend the entire trip in the room. Comfortable beds, clean bathroom, a fridge, etc added to the appeal. The staff was also extremely nice and pleasant, but it's worth noting that there is not a 24-hour front desk attendant (which was unusual to me - but it's perhaps normal for boutique and B&B type hotels). Only three major weaknesses preventing the five stars: 1) The Wi-Fi was terrible - which was problematic given that I was on a business trip and needed to write articles and connect for Zoom chats. I don't know this for certain, but it truly felt like there was essentially 1 router/connection for the entire hotel - so it was reasonably fast at times but unusable at others (in comparison to major chain Wi-Fi, which is never lightning fast but usually consistent all day). 2) Although the staff members were all extremely nice and charming, at least one seemed to lack the "local expertise" travelers may be hoping for. I wanted to watch a big boxing match one night prior to heading to a show I had to cover, and I asked a staff member for guidance on a local sports bar that might be showing it. His advice was to Google it - which of course pulled up Dave & Busters and Buffalo Wild Wings but nothing "local" that I could only experience in LA. Still, those are very small gripes for what was an otherwise wonderful stay. 3) The walls are definitely a bit thin. It wasn't a problem for me at night (the rooms near me were luckily either quiet or empty), but I did hear plenty of neighbor chatter one afternoon.
Good location
I stayed here for 5 days and must say it has the worst WiFi system! The location was great near to everything but the rooms itself we’re quite old and not so clean in certain places. I asked the cleaner to clean my room but found she only emptied the bins but didn’t clean the bath tub or sink. Not sure I would stay here again.
