Great central location, boutique hotel. Among the most popular bars and restaurants. Friendly staff. Situated between the Soane and the Rhone the Hotel de Paris is ideally close to Lyon Part Dieu Eurostar station too !
Six Days in Lyon
We spent six nights in the 3 Star Hotel de Paris. It is an eclectic/industrial - themed hotel in the heart of Lyon. Great location for visiting Vieux Lyon and other sights on both sides of the two rivers. We were on the 4th floor. It has a tiny elevator, but works well. What I liked best was the hotel staff. Friendly, helpful, nice people. In the lobby there are cold soft drinks available 24 hours a day, and the lobby is staffed 24-7. The wifi was strong and the A/C was outstanding, which was a blessing since the temperatures hovered around 100 degrees while we were here. Lyon is a great city to visit. USA is playing England tonight in the World Cup just a few miles away. Go USA.
Two wonderful Nights in this Quaint Hotel
I stayed at the Hotel de Paris on two different occasions this past May/June and I was very pleased with the service and quality of the hotel. You can NOT beat the price to stay in the center of Lyon. The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. I highly recommend staying here.
Fine if you don’t want to sleep
I am writing at midnight on the second and last night of my stay. If you visit when it’s warm, be prepared to stay out until the bars close, or sleep with the windows open and the noise from the bars nearby, or close the windows and bake. The A/C does not work. At all. Otherwise the hotel is OK but sleep is rather important. Go elsewhere.
WIERD AND WONDERFUL
This is a fine 19th century bourgeois town house made into a modern hotel with metal wall sheeting, strong colours and photos of the pop wall art several stories high that Lyon is famous for. The lift is cramped, the bathroom didn't have a shower curtain and the noise from the street was terrific right through the night. BUT it is centrally located for the wondrous sights of Lyon, also close to Rue Merciere and Rue Major Martin and all their restaurants. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast from the world's smallest breakfast bar is completely nutritious and satisfying. All-in, we liked it.
