Great Location

Reviewed 20 july, 2019

Great Location! It's an old building with modern apartments. Rooms have great AC! We did have to walk up lots of stairs but that was no big deal for our family of three as we only did this 2x a day. It was worth it to be in such a great location. We loved the historic feel of the arear. It's also only a 10-minute walk to the metro. It was easy to access the building. It definitely operates closer to an AirBnB vs, a hotel.

Fantastic property in ideal location

My wife and I stayed at La Maison Debourg, in the 4th floor T2 apartment recently during the Festival of Lights. Lyon and the Festival were amazing to explore. The apartment however, was truly a highlight of our vacation in Europe. Yes, it is a climb up 4 floors on an old stone spiral staircase. A little challenge with what was certainly too much luggage we brought. But the historic building (dating to the 1400s!), charming and spacious apartment with all modern conveniences was a pure delight to return home to each night after exploring the city and old town. The host, Mme Bernardi, was very gracious in helping with plans, reservations and making our stay delightful. The apartment really has every modern amenity one could ask for - high speed internet, stocked kitchen, great espresso, satellite TV, super comfy bed, great shower, lots of space, warm throw blankets. We kept commenting that it was the sort of place we'd love to rent for a month and really explore a city. Great job in making a wonderful rental apartment.

Merci beaucoup pour tout La Maison Debourg

Great apartment in vieux Lyon. We arrived early and they were kind enough to prepare the room early so we could leave our bags and start off on our day. Everything you could need, superbly located near all worth seeing. Great food and access to transport nearby though most everywhere is easily walkable. The only challenge, which we enjoyed, is that it is a fourth floor walk up, so know that before you book and bring heavy bags. Great way to enjoy the city. Thanks very much for a great place to stay.

Historic Oasis

I have stayed in many cities and as hotels/apartments go this is up there with the best. This 4th floor apartment (T2) is situated through an unassuming wooden door at the end of a busy street. Up a narrow steep stone staircase and across a short balcony, the room is airy and full of rustic charm. Although it sleeps 2-4 persons I feel that to get the best experience, you must use it as a couple. Bigger parties would benefit from booking the larger apartment (T1). The main room has a sofa-bed, cooker, refrigerator, coffee/tea making facilities, microwave oven, and television. The bedroom is compact with a shower and sink built into the room and has open alcoves for wardrobe space. Jean, our host was there to meet us even though we arrived after 10.30 pm. He was passionate about the city and it's culture and offered an outstanding service. We would buy croissants and pain au chocolat from the many Boulangeries in the area the night before. Then after breakfast we would leave no not return until late in the evening; Lyon is a very entertaining and beautiful city and just walking around the streets, particularly in the immediate are of La Maison Debourg, is a joy. This is THE place to stay in Lyon. The location is perfect and although the area is very busy, once you are back in the apartment it becomes a peaceful haven. We didn't cook anything: you are in a gastronomic paradise so why bother? Checkout is at 10.30 and we weren't due at the airport until 8.00pm but there is a place called All In Lyon which will store your luggage for the day or by the hour. It is just down the street from the apartment. This was a godsend! If you want a unique experience away from the usual hotel Russian roulette roundabout, then this is the place to stay.
