Nice position wonderful concierge but not clean and untidy beds

Reviewed 5 september, 2022

The concierge was wonderful and helpful, but the room was pretty dirty and expecialy the bed were done awfully. The last night I couldn’t find my night dress anywhere, at the end I found it under the upper sheet exactly as I had left it in the morning. Unacceptable in a four star hotel!

Glad we chose this hotel for Andre Rieu

Reviewed 1 august, 2022

We booked tickets on 1st August 2021 for Andre Rieu in July 2022. Needed to book a room and looked at so many all with different views. We booked a package for two nights with breakfast at the same time last year and were really pleased with our stay. We had a room on floor 5 which is the roof so we watched the concert twice - once from our room and once in the actual seating area. It seems they don’t specifically advertise those two rooms now but are maybe randomly allocated. Breakfast was good, buffet style. The hotel could not be any closer to the concert.

Disappointment and warning

Reviewed 16 july, 2022

The Amrath du Casque Hotel is Maastricht is not a 4 star hotel. Maybe a 1 star. The rooms are inhumanly small. And dirty. No glasses or cups in the room. Only paper cups. The price does NOT justify what is offered. Please forego a stay in this hotel.

Only one saving grace

Reviewed 12 july, 2022

We have stayed at this hotel 6 times now, but will never do so again. Having booked and fully paid for our room in July 2019, Covid put paid to our visit until July 2022. Due to a misunderstanding we were no longer able to have the room overlooking the square that we had booked, and the prices had risen to such an extent that what we had originally paid for 5 nights in a superior room now only covered 3 nights in the next grade down. On arrival we were given one of the suites on the 5th floor, which may possibly have been an upgrade although the website no longer shows these as bookable, so perhaps they are now simply counted as ordinary rooms. Anyway, the first thing we discovered in this slightly tired-looking room was that there was no TV remote so it was impossible to turn on the TV. Down I went to reception, and was handed a remote. So far so good, except that pressing the 'on' button didn't work although pressing '1' did the trick and we were able to pick up the news channels. However, when we wanted to switch off we found that the remote wouldn't work at all, so the only way was simply to pull the plug out of the socket. Second issue - after about a dozen tries I gave up on the room safe as it was obviously faulty and would not lock at all. Third issue - a small bar of soap was provided, which we unwrapped and put on the sink, using it on our first night only. The next morning it was removed and not replaced - the only thing the staff did in the bathroom, as even the towels had not been folded. Lastly, the majority of the bedrooms overlook the side street, where immediately next to the hotel is a bar that stays open until 2am or later and plays mega-loud music that disturbs everyone's sleep. However, the hotel did give us some ear plugs! The Du Casque's one saving grace is that it is right on the Vrijthof, which is ideal if you are there, like us, for an Andre Rieu concert - but even that is not worth the 350 euros or more, excluding breakfast, that they charge at this time of year, so our most recent visit was definitely our last to this greedy establishment.

Good hotel with great location

Nice hotel at the Vrijthof square. From here it is easy to shop, dine and visit the bars and restaurants. Very nice breakfast room with views over the square. Rooms are nice, but don’t expect them all to have a nice view over the square.
