Large well designed hotel with a good location.
My wife and I stayed 3 nights with a Hotels.com reservation. We took an Uber ($2) from the nearby MCP Airport, arriving here at 14:30 PM. A Portuguese-speaking receptionist entered our passports, processed our key card and motioned to the 2 elevators. First floor room #163 had the practical predictable layout we expect from the Ibis hotel chain and this one is nearly ideal with a comfortable large double, shelf unit and closet with refer, desk/counter with chair, small couch and fully outfitted bathroom/shower with hot water. Our clean (serviced daily) compact room had decent room WiFi, cable TV but no English and an over-sized AC unit. The 6:30 AM breakfast buffet in the lobby restaurant had juices, fruit, yogurt, breads, scrambled eggs, cheese, meats, cereals, cakes and coffee. We also enjoyed our lunch here; Grilled chicken with barbecue sauce + rice and beans. We walked 750 m north to the large Supermercado Fortaleza and 450 m south to the Villa Nova food court. This popular and well run hotel offers a great location and excellent value at $49 US per night, paying with Visa.
My Stay at Ibis Macapa or Ibis Foz do Iguaçu
IBIS never send to you your receipt They say will go to send it by email but if you don't ask it you will never receive.Breakfast is expensive and NEVER is ready at start that should be at 06:30AM, so you pay for it but if you want it complete wait until 07:30 or more.Really disapointing.
Used to be good option, but becoming very run down...
This hotel used to be a very good choice for Macapa and was up to the Accor standards for Ibis. It was clean and safe. I have stayed here many times over the course of the last 5 years. Since my first stay, it has steadily become very run-down. The management has not kept it up. The AC in the rooms does not work properly and is noisy. The walls in the room are in need of a new coat of paint. The bed sheets are clean, but very gray from too many washings and age. The hotel is in dire need of refurbishing, but it really is the only option in town. There is no one on staff that speaks English, so I have to bring someone from the office when I check in and check out. Breakfast is okay. I can usually find something to eat. The internet does not work at all in the room so you have to sit in the lobby and then it is very slow. As a business traveler who has to come to Macapa twice a year, it is sad to see the Ibis in this bad condition.
If you know nothing, go to Ibis
Standard rooms, good, clean, easy to register, to stay. It´s amazing to find one of these hotels where you know nothing. Especially when you are travelling alone. There, you feel safe, the quality is the same wherever you go. I would stay there again.
Ibis standard including carpet
If you have allergic or breath problems related with carpets choose another hotel. It's unbelievable that in a place well know by too much humidity they choose carpets to cover the halls on all floors.
