More about the hotel
Nice, fair price, helpful staff
It's safe to walk around during day and night. The room was always clean with nice shower. There's a good variety of cakes and break for the breakfast and they also serve fresh "tapioca". But it is not two blocks from Pajuçara Beach. It's Jatiúca Beach. To Pajuçara it's a little bit longer distance.
Nice Place
The little hotel is well located, two blocks from the beach of Pajuçara and one block from nice restaurants, drugstore. It's safe to walk around during day and night. The room was always clean with nice shower. There's a good variety of cakes and break for the breakfast and they aslo serve fresh "tapioca". Nice!!! The staff is helpful and the price is fair. I stayed for two weeks and would definetely return.
Nice with fair price
The hotel is well situated, near the beach, near restaurants and easy to access the north beaches (for the south beaches you need to drive through the city but it's ok). The breakfast is complete and you can order tapioca and they will do it fresh! Rooms are comfortable and price is fair!
Sterile - Clean - Excellent Value
It is a challenge to sleep on a bed that is approximately the width of ones shoulders. But even with that obstacle, I slept well. The Pousada Eco Maceio that I am staying in feels very much like the clean Hostels of Australia I stayed in last year. White is the dominant color, with no carpeting and all tiles. This makes it easier to clean. I often measure my lodging choices by asking myself – “Would my wife stay here?” All of my choices thus far in Brazil I believe the answer would be “yes”. But the Eco Maceio may be a little too Spartan for her tastes. It is clean enough, but perhaps a bit too sterile. The street in front is a street one will find in most Brazilian towns – certainly those that approach the sea. At first glance it may be a little seedy for the Midwestern US traveler, but it is safe. There is a small cantina and restaurant next door. There is a security door and once inside, the lobby is bright, white and clean. You enter thru the door and climb a flight of stairs and then down a long sterile hallway to my room - #19. As the pictures tell, it is small – approximately 10x10. That includes the bathroom (even smaller). But everything is here – a safe, a warm shower, a clean bed. Upon my return from my excursions today they even pushed the beds together to make a larger bed (mucho appreciated). The Price per night is around $40 – so you can’t beat it. It includes breakfast, which has the normal Brazilian items – fresh fruit, coffee, coffee cakes, bread, sliced cheese and ham, and fresh fruit juices. This one also has some scrambled eggs and some cereal – so a solid way to start your day! Of special note is the front desk staff. They were extremely helpful at making suggestions of places to go grab a drink or dinner. This was especially helpful early in the week when many restaurants close down (Monday). They also arranged to get me a cab to the airport at a very early hour. They were excellent and much appreciated!
Econômico ou ecológico?
We stayed at this b&b during low-season, so it was relatively empty. A/C is great, including the quiet mode to sleep. Breakie was also great, with delicious tapiocas. I wasn't impressed by the low quality toilet paper and non-drying towels. The whole ecological thing is cool, but it shouldn't impact your personal hygiene. There is a ibis feeling there, with their extra economical savings on simple things. It can get quite noisy with children running by your door or people talking on the corridor. It's a budget option in a great location in Maceio
