Dog friendly, tiling in pool needs fixing
Opinión escrita el 3 de Septiembre de 2021
We selected this hotel as it was dog friendly and our dogs did enjoy the stay and were very welcomed. They had a doggy bowl and basket in the room and multiple bins around so you can clean up after them. There is a charge of €50 a night which is a little steep I think.
Food is lively as we had room service and ate in the Italian restaurant. Breakfast was lively with a good selection and great staff, manager was especially friendly and down to earth, didn't even realize she was the manager until someone was giving out just to give out.
Not really a family location as the pool is very deep (I think it's 1.2m deep) so our baby was not comfortable. It also had some of the tiles crumbling which I got a little splinter in my foot.
The leisure area is separate and gorgeous, especially liked the outdoor hot tub. Steam room and sauna not operating due to covid reg.
Only issue was getting room service one night, we thought we could order from the restaurant but we're told it was fully booked so had to get soup instead for dinner.
Spa Service let you down

Beautiful grounds where the service was excellent in all areas within the reception, breakfast and strawberry tree.
The biggest disappoint for us was that we booked in for massages. I was called on time but after 20 minutes, my wife was told that her masseuse never showed for her shift and they couldn’t contact them, offering a mud steam instead, which wasn’t even complimentary. It was meant to be a relaxing spa weekend, which we don’t get to do too frequently and regrettably, not sure we would come back.
Magical Brooklodge & Wells Spa.

Greeted. Warm welcome. Friendly smiles. Keys exchanged.
All information given. Directions to The Strawberry Tree Restaurant. Armento Italian Restaurant Actons Bar. The Waterside Lounge.
Colours of flora, red squirrels, deer, hens. Babbling Brook. Mountains & Crows nesting.
Beautiful in every way. To sit and ponder. Free the mind. Time out.
Rooms very well decorated and dressed. Sparkling & still waters. Coffee & tea available to make in room.
Best advise to book all meals well in advance as such a beautiful busy buzzy spot.
Gorgeous toiletries in room.
A crew that greet you at every turn in this heavenly hotel.
It's like a Parisian style boutique country hotel. Style and elegance. Relaxation.
Breakfast a feast to behold. Such choice the team so bubbly and friendly. Aromas of freshly pressed coffee. Delights from fruits, cereals, salmon , the full Irish breakfast. Everyone's tastes catered for. The White room has calm about it for your morning start. Sit later t read your paper or simply watch others go bye as folks bid you good morning on the terrace.
A little church many weddings there. The beautiful Brookhall.
The amazing team also in The Waterside lounge welcome you. Some very nice cocktails to be had. Whether it is fine dining or Italian there is a feast and surprise of flavours to be had.
Look so forward to returning.
A gem in Wicklow. A haven.
We loved it. Thank you from Susan & Dermot.
Spend your hard earned cash somewhere else, not the hotel it once was.

I recommended Brooklodge and Maccreddin for a family trip with my partner, child and parents in law as I had been there 3 years ago and had a wonderful time. We arrived home from our stay tonight and I felt compelled to write a review, which I have never done before.
We booked in for 3 nights and brought our dog with us. Check in was grand, the receptionist was very professional but not friendly. That’s fine, but a sign of what was to be expected from 90% of the staff we encountered here throughout our stay. The room was basic, beds were small and the bathroom was dated and looked as though it needed a good scrub. The net curtains had holes in them and were stitched back together, the carpets were stained and the beds were hard.
Our first night we enjoyed dinner in the Italian restaurant Armento, food was delicious and the service was great. We really enjoyed it.
Breakfast the next morning was really disappointing. Service was slow, we had to ask for our hot food orders to be taken every morning, each waitress was uninterested, untrained and rude. Everything was an effort, our orders were wrong every morning and we didn’t receive one apology, lots of huffing and puffing and slamming things down in front of us. The full Irish consisted of 2 tiny sausages, one piece of white pudding, a piece of black pudding, a burnt rasher and runny egg. We had to ask for butter, tea, toast at least 3 times every morning. The scrambled eggs are without a doubt powdered eggs and taste of nothing.
They stop serving the very limited bar menu at 430. There is absolutely no option for kids and there is no apologies made for that. So unless your 5 year old kid will eat liver parfait or smoked salmon they’ll just have to starve.
After a long day out the second day we returned to the hotel to be told we couldn’t avail of any food, it was 730 and nothing could be done. We googled the local chipper!!!
The last day we checked out and decided to have a bite to eat before we set off home. There were 2 waitresses on duty in the bar. The first one was visibly annoyed that we wanted to eat and when my MIL asked could we order drinks while deciding what to eat she said she would take the drinks order with the food order when we had decided. This is when we were told there was nothing available for kids! We waited 15 mins for our order to be taken. The food arrived and then waitress number 2 who threw out breakfast at us returned and in her usual style plonked the coke down so hard on the table that it fell and poured all over my aunt!! I picked it up and she said “I’ll put it here” and spilled the remainder of the bottle into her lap. A number of us at the table said how rude she had been throughout the day and she scampered back inside without a word of apology. She clearly hates her job and has no training or desire to be in the service industry. Minutes later a very defensive “manager” appeared to tell us that his staff member has gone home in tears and launched into a outburst about operating on 30% staff. We paid 100% for our stay. Take from that what you will, we will not be returning.
An enjoyable 2 day trip

We stayed for 2 days at brook lodge and the 2 days were enjoyed to the full. Reception was nice and welcoming and despite covid restrictions we were not delayed in getting to our room (38) which is a junior suite. The room was clean and tidy and has 2 TV's both of which have a bad reception so there not much point in using them. Wifi is available for free throughout the hotel but if i was to point out one thing about the rooms its the lack of USB ports for charging electronics. They'd be pretty standard by now so installing one in each room would be a good move!
Our breakfast each morning was fresh and the dining room is large and bright, My grumpiness meter dialed up when the coffee took a while but the pancakes made up for it. Definitely get a 2nd coffee to bring out to the boardwalk tables in the sun. Its simply delightful. We ate both nights in the Italian restaurant and both nights were worth it. Fantastic breads, nice organic wines, lovely tiramisu along with charming service. We cant wait to go back!
