More about the hotel
Hotel with lots of possibilities to improve
We have been here for 7 day in a suit with 2 children. The room itself was not to bad and also quite roomy, however, on the big balcony were no furniture at all and the two beds for the kids which were in the "living room" were also questionable. The breakfast was as i know it from Portugal, so nothing special but ok. Most likely also due to Covid the whole thing was a little downgraded! The pool could be used with restriction due to Covid, but if you ask if you can use it it should be possible to remove the cleaning roboter! As many sad before, the hotel is quite "used" and some renovations are surely necessary to valuate the 4 stars. We have been in the newer part of the complex so there it does not look to bad, but sure the older part looks run down as hell!
Great Location
I picked this hotel largely based on its location; though admittedly, there's not a lot of choice in the city centre. As a property, it's somewhat utilitarian in that Eastern Europe in the 80s sort of feel. If there's not many people staying, there's little charm. That said, staff were friendly. After a full day touring the island, was a nice surprise to find a complimentary bowl of fruit laid out in my room. A coffee maker would have been a nice tough, especially for those leaving early to catch a flight out. Free secure parking is available. All in all, would recommend. Am sure it has more character in busier season. ;-)
Miami Beach vibe
The decor and architecture of this hotel recalls Miami Beach’s Collins Avenue—lots of beachy pastels. Location can’t be beat—directly across the street from the ferry in the center of the village of Madalena.
It's really a 3.5
The best thing about this hotel is it's location and the second best thing is its friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is a little jaded. The rooms are big but lack lustre. There is a fridge in which you can put your own beers etc. No safe and no tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom is big but the shower is not temperature regulated, which I found dangerous as it was running hot and cold. Breakfast was plentiful but the hot options of bacon, scrambled and fried eggs, was not good. All overcooked and a bit greasy. Lots of cake, yoghurts, breads, cereal and you could even make your own pancakes. A good central place for your stay in Pico.
Good choice, as a base stay, to experience the island of Pico
Nice rooms, with balconies. Limited view from rooms towards small street. Large pool area - Good breakfast restaurant. The bar area could need to be modernized. Central location directly at the harbor (ferry to island of Faial). The staff could well be a little more customer minded.. turn up the smile! But had a very nice stay
