Compact but good place to stay
Delightfully Surprised when located on 7th floor of a building to find a compact, clean hostel. The beauty was not many rooms so appeared quiet. Separate room wth coffee machine and variety of food items to purchase and able to sit in comfort. Well situated near the Gran Via. Recommend
Good besides the internet
Good place, but the worst wifi I've ever had to use. It simply does not work, which is why I'm posting this from my roaming data. Otherwise, an actually very good hostel. But if you need internet (at all) this place has none, despite their claims.
Excellent hostel
Truth be told, I am not a hostel kind of person (high maintenance, if I’m really being honest here). I booked the Hostal Besaya by mistake, by not wearing my glasses and who knew that hotels.com also has hostals on it? We were going to be there just for a few hours before leaving at 5am for the airport. I saw the reasonable price, in a great area and 4 stars and hit “Book”. Then I read hostal not hotel. I wasn’t sure what I was getting into here and was ready to leave despite having committed to the room. The room was very small but spotlessly clean. The bathroom was small but spotless. The beds were comfortable (albeit a little squeaky) and the linens were very clean. The gentleman at the front desk was very kind and friendly. He found me extra pillows (did I mention high maintenance? but also sick) and also helped me with finding a 24 hour pharmacy in the middle of the night. The Hostal Besaya is not “The Ritz” but it is a very clean room in a safe neighborhood and great location with kind and helpful staff. Would recommend highly to those who appreciate hostels.
Perfect for a Solo Traveler. Great Stay...
The location could not be better. Situated feet/meters from Calle Gran Via with all the restaurants, shopping and theaters. Only a short walk to the Old Town and Plaza Mayor. Located on the 8th floor of an apartment building with heavy locking front door makes it secure and an oasis from the hustle and bustle. Someone is at the front desk 24 hours a day. Staff was very nice. I stayed in a single room with private toilet and shower. Room was very very clean and welcoming. It was small but for a solo traveler it was quite comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.
Value for money at the city center
This place is truly value for money. Every major tourist attraction is walking distance, just 10-15 mins walk to Palacio Real, Plaza Mayor, Plaza Espanya, Retiro and Mercado San Miguel. There are plenty of shops and tapa bars around. Just amazing if you are a solo traveler because a lot of things was going on! I really like my room, I had my own bathroom and warm shower. They cleaned the room everyday. What I love about it was the little balcony where I have the view of Gran Via. The sunrise and sunset was amazing. I recommend to take this room. I forgot the name of the staff, but she was nice and speaks English well. I love it that she didn't make small talks and let me do my own thing.
