Excelent choice!
We stayed 8 nights in this hotel, from Dec 17 to Dec 25, and were very satisfied. The hotel is in Gran Via, close to everything Madrid offers, and the price was very good for the location. The staff as a whole was incredible, starting with the two persons at the reception on the day of our arrival. The rooms were very clean, and were cleaned and its linen changed as soon as we left the room. We were in a room in the 9th floor and yes, you could hear noise on some nights from the people partying in the market building below, but it is an hotel in the middle of Madrid, a big and lively city, so we didn't mind. Our stay in Madrid was great, and staying here helped towards it being so. And this is not only our opinion: I was waiting for the taxi in the reception when another guest came to do his checking out and went on for a few minutes with the staff about what a great stay he had had there.
Is this hotel really a Meliá ????
I was feeling very unwell so I decided to call room service because I needed 2 very very very basic things : 1. Hot water 2. Lemon juice When I asked for these very simple things at 10 pm on the 20 th of Nov (and even though I explained that I was very sick )I got different and very interesting and answers such as : - You have to order some food because there’s a min amount ( that’s fine and understandable). - We don’t have hot water ( unbelievable). - We don’t have lemons ( impossible ). - The lady who could help you is gone now (what ???) Summary : They TOTALLY. Ignored me , they just didn’t care about me at all . Is this really a Meliá hotel ????
Problems were quickly sorted
Our first night on the 11th (top) floor was sleepless. There was a dreadful noise from machinery on the roof, & the "double" bed was tiny - really a large single.& not big enough for 2 people. This was sorted out the next morning, but I think the staff were very used to complaints about the room/floor. Rooms below the 10th floor are much larger & more comfortable. Staff were friendly & helpful. The location is great, breakfast is fine, but I do question how rooms are allocated? Why were we given an inferior room
Hotel stay was good
Very courteous staff, always smiling, neat & clean rooms, my early morning check out at 5am, the taxi drop to airport and breakfast parcel was arranged. I could not go around city tour, but Madrid seems to be beautiful city. Thank you
