Good one night stay

One night stay as we had a business meeting locally. We were pleased to be given a room upgrade on arrival, which we appreciated. Large, well presented room with a very comfortable bed and powerful shower as highlights. We didn't stay for Breakfast as we had an early start but we will certainly return as this is a good hotel, well located and fairly priced.

I stayed with my family for 1 night. We booked 2 rooms and the family suit. Rooms are lovely and spacious and clean. Lots of amenities and a little coffee machine in the room which was a nice little touch. Our room had a nice view of the golf course which looks very popular. The hotel staff are helpful and polite. The only downside to our stay was the service in the cast iron grill restaurant. Very Under staffed and did take a long time to be served drinks and when they did eventually arrived they were wrong. A lovely waitress sorted us out and give us complimentary muffins as a sorry which was a nice gesture. Would definitely recommend the hotel. And we will be booking our return stay soon. Thumbs up from us.
No-One To Help

For about a week I was trying to contact the hotel by phone as I wanted to book an Afternoon Tea. The option to book online hasn't worked for a few months now. Option 5 on the phone is to speak to Hotel Operator who is never there to answer the phone. When I finally did have someone answer, she put me through to another phone that I could book the Tea. I got an answerphone!! I left a voicemail but not heard anything back from them. Maybe more staff are needed but that could be extra expense to pay out when no-one is actually able to book for the hotel 😄 . Appalling customee relations. Went somewhere else last time because not able to get through and again this time. Good job the Hilton down the road have got it right.
Poorly managed restaurant and service.

Could not book restaurant on line or by phoning the property. Had to go to restaurant on arrival to book and nobody available. When arriving for meal, a sign tells you to wait to be seated and after 10 minutes we had to move into the restaurant to show we had arrived...poorly managed. Next day at breakfast there were many hot items at the buffet not available as they were not managed. Room was nice and bed was comfortable. Nice and clean. Reception on check out were helpful with our complaint about the restaurant, however used the "Covid hit us" standard. If you know this exists then it should be planned for and even more important for the restaurant to be closely managed.

Having booked a weekend at this hotel I was concerned by some of the negative reviews. As it turned out I should not have been. The hotel is clean but dated in some of the lounge areas. The team were welcoming and there were lots of them. There was a queue at the bar on Saturday evening but there were a lot of people around. The food was good at breakfast and in the evening. The golf course is challenging. I will be returning.
