Beautiful place to stop for lunch
We stopped here for lunch one day and are so happy we found it. The food was simple but delicious. The staff were friendly. And the location is so stunning. I'd like to come back to stay here one day.
An oasis in the mountains!
A wonderful retreat hotel with friendly staff, a great restaurant and delicious Spanish wine list. Arrive after your meandering drive through the mountains to be greeted by friendly staff and shown to your simple but delightful room. A great venue at an affordable price! Definitely worth a visit, especially for cyclists and walkers!
Beautiful
Stunning hotel which was originally a monastery. Wonderful, peaceful location. Great staff and spotlessly clean. Great breakfasts. Easy drive from Palma airport. Make sure you take road from Alaro and not through Bunyola! You definitely need a hire car and be aware hotel do not offer this service, so make sure you book to pick up at airport. Also remember that as it is in the mountains it can be cloudy, sometimes rainy and definitely a good 3 degrees cooler than the coast (which is an easy drive away.
Paradise
Just returned from a short stay at this beautiful hotel , after a busy time at work and in our home life , we wanted somewhere to stay where we could relax and recuperate- this was the place ! The hotel itself is absolutely charming, we stayed in a junior suite which was large ,light , and spotlessly clean with a private terrace overlooking olive groves . The staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful ,nothing was too much trouble for them whether it was sorting out a bike problem or searching for a lost earring! We cycled during the day and then relaxed by the lovely pool on comfortable beds in the afternoon. The location in heart of the Orient valley is stunning and so peaceful. I could not recommend this hotel highly enough- we wii certainly be back .
Really disappointed
We stayed one night at l’Hermitage and were really disappointed. The main body of the hotel is a venerable and historic building, but from the moment we stepped inside our spirits sagged. There is a small chapel, complete with altar and cross right behind reception, and the whole reception area is dark and austere. Our check-in experience was lacklustre, and confused. Our room, a junior suite, lacked character. This was disappointing, because the photographs on the hotel’s website look smart, bright and attractive - which is why we booked our stay. In fact, the hotel seems tired and in need of modernisation, and we didn’t manage to find any comfortable space to just relax in. On top of that, you are in a bit of a fix for meals - the way to and from the hotel is along, winding, sinuous roads, so you don’t have a lot of options other than to eat in. But they really could do so much better with the menu, and with the atmosphere in the dining room. The food was very disappointing at both supper and at breakfast, the service lacklustre and the large olive press which dominates the dining space seems to overwhelm the diners, so the mood is silent and rather depressing. I am sorry to write such a downbeat review of this hotel, for which we had such high hopes. And in fairness the management was responsive when we took our complaint to them. But this hotel is not cheap, and it needs a bit dose of both investment and enthusiasm if it is going to compete with other places to stay on this beautiful island. It could be so, so much better.
