Lovely grounds and design but...
We went to Vinilia to enjoy a couple of quiet days at the end of our Puglia trip. As we arrived, it seemed idyllic, beautifully designed room and lovely quiet relaxed grounds. Unfortunately the problems started to slowly creep in.... The water stoped while we were under the shower on our first day, like completely - pretty crazy! Reception called someone to fix it but by the time they arrived we were already at dinner - they only raised their shoulders and said 'it happens' (where does something like that happen???) - no apologies, no compensation, not even a drink to comfort us.... The second day, a Sunday, we went to the pool to find more than half of the sun beds saying 'Reserved'. We asked the bartender what was going on, who politely lied it was for hotel guests, just to find out at 12:30 when a big party of 15 appeared that they rent the pool out to external guests if not at full capacity....OMG! We were surrounded by a super loud family which came with EVERYONE grandparents, children, friends and basically took over the whole pool for the whole day. It felt like the public village pool. Hotel guests came and had no where to lay in the shade and left upset. It was pretty shocking, not only that they do this but that they don't inform it officially so you are aware what to expect. I had even asked if they had any events/parties planned and of course the answer was no. We spent 600eur a day for one of their best rooms (with no water!!) and dined in the starred restaurant for both days, and got basically not even a thank you or apology for what happened at the end. They actually never asked how our stay was... They never gave us any info about the history of the place or why they are even called a wine resort, no proposals for activities, nothing.... It's a true shame as the place could be a gem if only the management would actually care. While reception and management were very indifferent and disappointing, the restaurant staff were all very nice and polite and made our stay a little bit nicer...
Wonderful Stay!
Amazing resort! It is a little bit out of the way, but it worked great for us. The resort is well decorated and very relaxing. The restaurant on site is excellent, we ate both evenings at the resort and the chef prepared local specialties with fresh produces, it was delicious! The breakfast are also fantastic with plentiful of options . The staff is friendly and very helpful, they made our experience an outstanding one. I would definitely recommend staying here. We traveled with our dog who was also well received at the resort.
Room for improvement
The resort is actually not in a vineyard. Their vineyard is about 30-35 minutes away. They typically offer tours of the vineyard to hotel guests (you drive yourself there) for a charge. As such, representing themselves as a Wine resort is misleading. The resort itself has some beautiful aspects including modern decor, beautiful grounds (inside the walls), excellent restaurant and very cordial reception. What made our stay disappointing was the following: -Location away from the vineyards. The area surrounding the property is not beautiful. -No hot water on day 1. Luke-warm water on day 2 for our showers. Outdoor jacuzzi was not heated properly. Typical settings are 102-104 degrees Farenheit, theirs was set to 79. We were told by a staff member that they don't want to use the electricity in the summer and save it for the winter???? -Reading lights above the bed were broken. (it was explained the previous guest had broken it) -The corner nook in our deluxe room had a tiny uncomfortable chair and looked like a "time out" corner. A cozy overstuffed chair with a reading lamp might have made it functional. The front desk staff made an effort to overcome the lack of hot water (in the shower and the jacuzzi) and offered us a free tour of the vineyard, which we graciously accepted. The bed was very comfortable and the staff overall was very attentive. The restaurant was excellent. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel as a wine resort. There are other properties in Apuglia that we stayed in that were actually in a vineyard and everything worked.
Amazing
One of the most beautiful place in the middle of nowhere! 5stars L, great atmosphere, gorgeus indoor and outdoor. Everything seems to be perfect. Great service, a bit rude the sommelier I'm afraid. However, please come here and enjoy the pleasure of luxury.
Perfect stay
I stayed at this resort for three nights and ate at the restaurant. Everything was perfect. The staff were so kind and welcoming and organised day activities for us. The pool and spa were lovely. I recommend a short stay here.
