Perfect! Best host and best view!
This hotel is a gem and deserves top score. The staff is attentive and funny, and Mario, our host, is particularly a big part of creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The sunset, which is amazing, is enjoyed while eating a delicious dinner at the restaurant terrace. Great food - affordable prices. And special dinner requests, fx. for vegetarians, are easily arranged. Simply perfect. Thanks for a great holiday!
Nice Location but everything else terrible
our expectatation was not met. the hotel is situated very beautifully above the rocky shoreline. but the room was not clean and the breakfast was poor. ( Cappuccino from the Nestle Machine - awful ! ).
Amazing food with a superb view!
Had an awesome evening meal, the views from the terrace were superb, and to match it we had a fab meal too - the host was very friendly and attentive and well worth the visit! The mussels were the biggest and tastiest we'd ever tried, along with the beef with rocket and Parmesan :-)
Super holiday
The view from the restaurant terrace is simply outstanding with sunsets which one will always remember. Very friendly staff, fantastic Italian food and the local Mirto is a must. Every room has a terrace with a view out to the sea. Wonderful.
Geology Heaven - walking access to superb rock outcrops
L'Oleandro is an excellent place for Geology groups who study the geology of L'Isola d'Elba. I selected this hotel for a 1-night stay with a group of 17: 2 faculty with 15 geology students. As evidence of suitability: the upper floor of the Hotel is constructed >around< a native rock that contains lovely K feldspar phenocrysts! There is a fantastic coastal walk, ~ 1 kilometer, to Spiaggia del Cotoncello and on to Punta Sant'Andrea, where the aligned Kfs megacrysts of the Sant’Andrea facies of the Monte Capanne pluton, together with 'palle neri' (microgranular enclaves) are on supreme display for observation/interpretation of magmatic processes. As is customary during Geology field work, we arrived at the accommodation well after dark, and late enough for our prospects for an evening meal to be at risk. The proprietor greeted us at the door with a menu, and took our orders while settling students in their rooms! It took only a moment to drop our luggage in the bedrooms, then we found ourselves relaxing at big tables on the outdoor terrace, with the stars of the Tyrrhenian overhead and cool breezes swirling around us, glass of wine in hand and a luscious meal of seafood on its way.
