Short break away

So to start, arrived after the allotted check in time only for the reception to be empty, had a quick walk around to try and find somebody but the place seemed deserted. Tried to call the phone number but even that did not get any attention. Eventually somebody did turn up and they were very pleasant, talked us through a few things regarding the way they are working with Covid still being an issue. We had booked a room with a beach facing balcony (not the ideal time of year to sit out on the balcony) and the view was amazing, just a shame about the weather although it could have been a lot worse. The room itself was plenty big enough for our needs, and the bed was very comfy. The only downside was the shower. The first night we could not get it to go hot at all so gave up and tried in the morning which we managed to do, then rather than turn it off we just swapped places to ensure it stayed hot. After various activities that day and a long walk we attempted the shower again that night but with more issues. I ended up trying to get help but was just told it could be air in the system and to leave the shower head left down and keep trying. Eventually did get it to work but by no means was it hot, more tepid if that. There was barely any noise from any other guests and it was really the locking/unlocking of room doors that you would here every so often. The food at breakfast was very good which both days we opted for the full english. There was also cereal, fruit and yogurts to start with if needed. Juice was also on the table as it were to choose and the option of tea/coffee with breakfast. No complaints whatsoever. We did have one drink at the bar but prices are a little steep which is also why we decided to go elsewhere for the rest of our meals, but to be fair there was not a huge choice that we would have had on the menu either. We found the staff to be polite and friendly and we did enjoy the stay/location although not sure if I would want to go back to the area.
Disappointing meal in the restaurant, we did not stay in the hotel

The view from this restaurant is amazing , we were all impressed with the way the team insisted on keeping its clients and staff COVID safe. The menu is mainly an interesting selection fish dishes for starters and mains. However we had to send a pint of real ale back as it was vinegary, the fish stew was spicy ( which wasn’t in the description) also it contained shell on clams , mussels and prawns which made it difficult to eat , What we thought was going to be a peaceful meal was totally spoilt by ongoing conversations and difference in service between staff and the table next to us ; it was clear that the customers were friends of the owners . We did comment on this as we left and apologies were given. It is not good value for money.

Fantastic place, beautiful views, as for the food it is exceptional not your normal pub food. The staff are pleasant and look after you very well. The owner is a lovely woman and always goes out of her way to have a chat. 10 outer 10

We are in the restaurant during a short break to Cornwall. The service is excellent and the food first class. The menu is dominated by fish and there is a wide variety of dishes. I had the lemon sole which was amazing. My wife had a Thai fish dish - brilliantly spiced and fragrant. There’s a good choice of wines and beers with some excellent cocktails too.
