Good but not great!

Reviewed 11 december, 2019

Positives, most staff are very good. Rooms nice size, good storage, clean and well kept. The hotel is really nice and it wouldn’t take too many changes to make it outstanding. However, we were well aware it’s the last week of the season, but unfortunately my job dictates my holiday dates, and given the fact it’s half term Jet2holidays charge a premium for this week. Guests were being ‘up graded’ to this hotel from other hotels in the same chain, this had a massive impact on the atmosphere around the hotel and not a positive one. Some of their behaviours were absolutely disgusting and no one should have to tolerate this. The restaurant started to scale back choices massively. We are not picky eaters by any stretch of the imagination but struggled to find a decent meal. We understand the hotel would need to reduce the selection, however after chatting with regular guests who stay this same week every year. What usually happens is staff speak to the remaining guests and offer a reasonable menu choice to order. Which in my opinion would have been so much better. The issue with the sunbeds has repeatedly been mentioned. Again because of Upgraded holiday makers we were forced to get up around 6:00am to secure a sunbed for the day. Staying around the pool whilst still dark and cold to ensure we would have a sunbed for the day. To be fair to the hotel staff, one morning I came down at 6:15am and no sunbeds were available, guests had placed towels on them and gone back to their rooms. On complaining to the reception staff they did remove all towels from unoccupied beds. Again, not something you want to be doing on a chill out week. This hotel is sold as part of the Luxe collection with Jet2holidays, sadly it did not live up to that in our opinion. After raising my concerns with Jet2holidays they responded:- “ In regards to the restaurant, we do mention on our Website that this may only open depending on occupancy and will fully close after the 31st October” Really! we purchased an All Inclusive holiday and were not departing until 1st November late in the evening?? Such a shame as a really nice hotel with a lot of great staff, but does not deliver what Jet2 are selling.

Excellent location, good selection of all inclusive drinks, food ok

Reviewed 15 november, 2019

The hotel is in a really good location, right by the beach and shops. All inclusive drinks were good with good measures and cocktails included. The food was ok, I had plenty to eat and never went hungry so can't complain however I did keep it simple and stick to the same kind of things. There wasn't a massive choice but I was fine with that. I didn't discover the pool snacks until a few days into the holiday but they were fantastic and much better than the actual meals. The fact wifi isn't free is surprising, it's a 4* hotel and as far as i'm concerned thats pretty basic.Even if it was just free in the communal areas would be ok. You can upgrade rooms to get free wifi but thats about £25 a night so fairly expensive. You can also pay per device for it but again thats expensive. We requested to change rooms after 2 nights as the people in the room next to us were ill and as the room had a connecting door to their room it was even less soundproof than usual and we could hear someone being sick constantly. When changing rooms we wern't even trusted with the 2 room keys for 15 mins to move rooms, we had to pack everything up and leave the old room. I then left my partner and bags by the lift while I handed in the old room key and got the new one then had to go up and get our stuff in the lift to get to another floor which was so unnecessary when we could have packed, gone to new room, put our stuff in and then returned the first key. The rooms were generally clean with a few issues. The pillow in the first room was dirty when we checked in, we told them the next morning when we noticed it as we had seen the reviews about charges for things like that, we were told housekeeping would change it but they didn't. In the second room one of the towels was dirty, to the point that it didn't look like it had actually been washed. Housekeeping staff were really friendly though. The reception staff were a little rude, everything we asked for seemed like more hassle than was needed or everything had a charge involved. The pool was nice and clean but the water was freezing, obviously it was the end of October but because of this most people didn't even use it. The hotel was also less busy at this time of year and getting a lounger in the sun was still almost impossible. They were being reserved even though there were signs saying this wasn't allowed. I wouldn't recommend going during peak season as there are no where near enough sunbeds. There is no entertainment either so bear this is mind. The one thing that impressed me, especially with everything else involving an extra charge, was that when we checked out at 12pm on our last day we could keep the wristbands on and still use our all inclusive until we left for the airport. This did redeem some of the earlier issues for me as I wasn't expecting that.

Great hotel, excellent location! Stayed October for 1 week.

Dropped off at hotel late at night - bus driver very kindly stopped traffic (yes, indeedy) and took us across road to the Julian. I was a bit apprehensive as never been to Turkey before. Lovely staff and brilliant room. |Not stayed at an all inclusive hotel before so was very surprised at the quality and variety of the food - fresh honey on a honeycomb at breakfast with fab yoghourt, fried eggs or omelette freshly cooked in front of you - what's not to like?? I suffer with allergies but chefs could always confirm what was contained in dishes in the evening (we didn't do lunch as too much food). Loads of food beautifully presented and of good quality and plenty of choice! There was nothing too much trouble for the staff! We stayed in October for one week and would definitely stay again!

What a start to a holiday, dropped off at the Julian and had to find the ramp to gain entry,The ramp is not suitable for a wheelchair it is dangerous and too steep, got to reception and had to wait till the person finished their conversation with the security guard, eventually got the key and told it was on the 2nd floor, luckily there was a lift and we found the room. There is not a mini-bar in the room,it is a small fridge with a bottle of water. Went down to the Downtrodden Canteen for breakfast and declined the chips and chicken nuggets, instead we opted for the omelette, and scrambled egg, coffee and fruit juice,my wife took a bowl of fruit out to the tables at the poolside, and was pulled up by the barmaid/monitor and told that food was not allowed at the poolside tables,we found this hilarious as food is served at the same tables in the afternoon,we knew this as there were chips, nuggets and salad stuff all around the tables and amongst the cigarette ends etc. The menu became a bit tedious after 3 days as Tomato soup was on for the whole 2 weeks we stayed, also if you like chicken, pasta or meatballs, you will be in heaven as they are on every day,one day there was a choice of 3 meatball dishes to savour,no wonder a lot of guests were walking out at both Lunch and Evening Dinner, the food was tepid most of the time and there was a lot of complaints, the dinner time I complained to the canteen manager about the food we stopped getting coffee put in our room and on another occasion we lost our tv channels for 2 nights. One night I chose the lasagne, only to find that there was no meat inside so I asked the canteen manager was this a vegetarian dish,he then checked the whole tray and guess what no meat so he took it away and got a chef to bring out another tray and yes you got it right there was no meat inside just the pasta sauce again,by this time there was a queue of unhappy people waiting for him with their plates, the issue was solved very easily by walking out and dining elsewhere. The hotel send someone over to the tables with a questionnaire to fill in and ask you to tick excellent, they then look at it and go running to the manager with it if you put any truthful comments on it,he then has a word in your ear,one day 3 different people,a waitress, the barmaid and then at night when we were sitting outside using the free wifi from the Irish bar(You pay for the hotels wifi) the security guard came over with the sheet to fill in,how insecure are the management, surely the amount of people complaining to them would let them see what a bad job they are doing, The Julian is a lovely hotel, but they do not want you to use the All Inclusive as it costs them money, thats probably why the poolside bar is closed at night, and there is no entertainment at all. The hotel states that they speak Turkish and English, but try ordering a vodka and fresh orange juice and you get fizzy fanta, and you cannot get them to understand. The last few days was a snack menu at Lunch and Dinner,so we ate out.
