I visit Marrakech alot so have a lot of positive (and negative) experience with hotels and other accommodation... I can honestly say this is the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. Check In was about 4 hours long Room wasn't cleaned and new towels weren't offered throughout our stay TV, Safe, AC, Wifi (that they advertised) did not work upon sending a technician to the room, the Wifi worked and nothing else No rail in the wardrobe - asked for this to be sorted no go Side room with a balcony that overlooked a derelict building,,, locals using the hotel for the weekend were put next to us which is great but they came in at 3/4am and were very loud Pillows and bedding were basically non existent - lumpy pillow, rock hard bed, rags for bedding would be better sleeping on the floor Balcony peeling, no furniture on balcony Bar staff tried charging us for drinks we didn't have Pool area is awful. Overgrown grass, dirty cold pool water, broken furniture Overall was a negative experience in this hotel that was only made better by the fact we were in Marrakech which is one of the greatest cities in the world AND the fact the hotel across the road is a little better and you can go and sit by their swimming pool and enjoy their facilities. Basic tip for anyone thinking of booking this hotel.... just spend a little extra money and head somewhere else.

Hotel review

Worst hotel ever! DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL it has no air conditioning and is very hot in the room and the balcony and bedroom is full of ants my bed had ants in it and beetles! You could hear weird noises in the middle of the night from the balcony which was facing a spooky forest with high plants i could hear screaming at 3 in the morning from my balcony. The rooms are very weird and dirty and has mould all round the bathroom and rooms. My room had a creepy door which connected to someone elses bedroom. I ended up with a rash and had to re book another hotel and lost out on money because of this. The pool was green and mouldy and the reception area was also very bad and had blood on the floor which seemed very suspicious. And the hotel had no lighting at all and was very dark and creepy. the hotel is based in the middle of nowhere with no local facilities.

Warning Stay Away

Reviewed 14 august, 2021

WARNING STAY AWAY DOES NOT OFFER ANY OF THE SERVICES LISTED BIGGEST SCAM HOTEL EVER. *** warnings *** stay away from this hotel. no air-conditioning they say it just broke when it's not been working for years. there is no restaurant no food service at all. the rooms are horrible dirty and old and smell they have insects in the room. the staff are completely rude and do not care about any issues you have. they don't even have a manager in the hotel according to them and nor do they know when he comes in or what time. pool looks good in the pictures but not what it is like in real water is cold and dirty. stay away from this hotel at all costs you will regret your stay.. had to wait 3 days for our rooms to be cleaned and that after continued telling them we need are rooms cleaned. the tv not that you will need to watch it but don't work and is broken. do not stay at this hotel ever. you will lose your mind with the lack of staff and lack of services offered. stay away bunch of scammers this is not a hotel your better of sleeping on the floor outside then paying these people any money. stay away from this place at all costs. the wifi won't work unless ur in the reception area even then slow very slow. The po has insects in side cockrochas and bettels. Ants all over the room.

Beautiful place

Reviewed 11 october, 2020

I went here with family and a group of mountain climbers back in November 2019. The hotel was generally stunning but rooms needed some life injected into them. We didn't have a great experience here. Staff were overwhelmed. They were rude. Not very helpful. Rooms and bedding were dirty. Food was not great either.

I like this old place, it's good value but needs an update.

I have been staying at the Tichka, on and off, for the last 35+ years. In its heyday, the 1980's, it was a breath of fresh air in Marrakech. I forget the architect, but the beautiful interiors were by the famous American interior designer Bill Willis. Unfortunately, Marrakech has moved on since then and dear old Tichka hasn't. I am still very fond of this old friend and have always had a pleasant stay with lovely rooms and friendly staff, so no complaints on that score. However, it does sadly need money spent on it. Its once spectacular interiors are now faded and only hint at its former glory. But for value for money, where it was once expensive, it is now budget price, and the structure and setting remain the same, so you could do a lot worse. Just don't expect shiny new, expect faded 80's grandeur.
