Great time and service at recent wedding
Would like to thank the staff at the hotel on our sons recent wedding reception, everything was great. Tricia was great as getting all the details done and done correctly. Ashley had the room prepared early and I know her staff spent long late hours to get it ready. Took a lot off of our shoulders and was done to perfection. Even next day they had everything put in boxes ready for us to take, even the people cleaning up helped us. Katlyn and Chris were great help as well bar staff kept everyone served Jen was her usual friendly self at the bar and several people commented on how well the evening went. We felt safe during this odd Covid time, again not sure if I have mentioned all the staff but want to be sure they all know how well they did Thank you
Would stay again
We stayed here for one night while on a motorcycle weekend getaway. We had called earlier that day to see if they had availability and was quoted a price for a king room. We did not reserve, as we did not know for sure where we would be since we were enjoying the day on the cycle. When we arrived at the hotel, and inquired about staying the night, the price was quite a bit more. After we explained that we had called earlier and what we were quoted, he begrudging said he could give us that price. Our room was on the first floor, near a side entrance. Perfect for unloading and loading the bike. The room was spacious and updated. It was clean and had no smell. The bed was comfortable and the towels seemed new and were very fluffy. We had a very quiet and restful sleep. The next morning, the breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. They did have a variety of hot and cold item, but it just seemed like not a lot of thought was put into them. The yogurt was a very cheap brand, with no plain vanilla or Greek. They were serving oatmeal with different toppings that could also have been used with the yogurt, had they offered a nice plain Greek yogurt. The breakfast sandwiches were very dry and un-appealing. They had bagels, but no toaster….strange. Still, it was better than most hotels are offering right now. The only other customer service complaint I would have, is we ate at the restaurant the night we checked in and afterwards went to the hotels Market Place store to grab a candy bar. As we were heading to the front desk to pay, the gentleman that checked us in said we could not buy the candy. He said they had a wedding that night, and the wedding bar had the machine for purchasing. I asked if we could just give him correct change and he could ring it in later, or could we charge it to our room. He said that he had no way of doing that. What the heck. The next day when we checked out there was an extra charge of $30 for incidentals. Say what? They said that charge would fall off, which it did…..but what was that for?? What incidentals…hmmm…maybe a candy bar?? Bottom line………yes, we would stay here again….it was clean, quiet and updated. We also liked that they had a decent restaurant and bar.
Poor service
We like to go to Hotel Marshfield because it has a nice bar and is quite. On Wednesday nights they have live music and if weather is good it is outside in the courtyard. Typically service has been okay, but on our last to visits not so good. We start inside Jen is a great bartended and is good to talk to. Then we proceed outside with a drink from the bar. The issue is then getting some one to come and ask if we want another drink or maybe food. This last time there I had to go inside twice to get my our drinks. Even though there was staff outside waiting on tables never came to ours. We were very close to the doors so not like we were somewhere not easily seen. This was the second week that this has happened to us. I know there seems to be some new faces/staff but service is important. In my line of work I travel all over the world so I not good or bad service when I see it and lately the Hotel service has been less than desired. We might still come in and sit at the bar but not sure will venture outside not worth getting frustrated over being ignored.
Rooms partially remodeled
The rooms were partially remodeled with some new furnishings. The bath tubs are old however and are not in the best shape.. second floor was quiet. Breakfast was unimpressive. No freezer with the fridge.
Medical Stayovers
My husband has had some medical problems and needed 2 surgeries. The first time we stayed here was just for testing. A few weeks later it was for surgery. And a few weeks again for surgery. The staff was very attentive as we didn't know how many days he would be hospitalized both times. They don't come in the rooms once you have checked in but the staff checked to see if I needed anything, clean towels, coffee, etc. The first 2 times we stayed they were not serving food due to the Covid virus. There was a box breakfast. The last time they were serving food and it was really good. We have decided if we are down in the Marshfield area we will be stopping there to have lunch or supper even if we are not having to stay over night.
