Can be noisy with a disappointing breakfast .

The location is wonderful and not that far from the multi storey car park just outside the old town . We struggled to find the property although we had instructions , maybe a simple map would be helpful . The room was simply furnished but very comfortable with a good shower and the most comfortable bed we experienced on our tour .A small balcony gave us a wonderful view out over part of the city . Unfortunately during our two days it was very noisy outside at night as young people gathered to chat in the walkway below . If you close the windows and used the aircon its not too bad and maybe we were just a bit unlucky . Break fast was in all honesty the most limited I have encountered anywhere , Very good coffee and tea . But only cereals and dry biscuits . No bread , fruit etc . That was disappointing as was the reaction of our host to any hint of negative feedback . That's a shame .

Five stars for the location.

Excellent location a very short easy walk in from the Piazza Pascoli close to the info office. We were in the larger room of the two which had a brilliant view over the sassi from the room and balcony. The bedroom was plain but clean and comfortable and the bathroom was lovely and even had a view! Daniele was very helpful and communication was excellent prior to our stay giving clear directions on where to park and how to locate the property (which was easy to find thank goodness!) and he went the extra mile to book us dinner at a restaurant that provided gluten free food. Happy to recommend and we loved our two night stay in Matera.

Fantastic B&B in the Sassi

Reviewed 6 july, 2018

What a find!! Slow Living is very conveniently located in the Sassi - midway between a lively/lovely Piazza at one end and the Sassi at the other.......it’s a path with wonderland at each end. My room was bright and breezy with a small balcony overlooking the Sassi. It has a really good sized bathroom plus air conditioning and a TV (though why spend time on the latter, Materais a great place, so get out& about). The B&B is clean, modern and very stylishly furnished. Your host is an artist - a photographer and sculptor from Milano - his work is evident around the house, particularly the living room. His passion is non-digital photography (analogue), so if you want some tips - this is the place for you!!! The host is however, the most AMAZING asset of this already AMAZING place! - He met my car and carried my bags down the pathway to the B&B and then upstairs to my room. - He provided great advice on where to go and what to see in Matera. - He waited on you at breakfast - the food was fabulous!! - And when I couldn’t determine with certainty where to catch the bus to Roma, he made inquiries himself, carried my bag 20minutes through town and then waited with me until I was safely on the bus and on my way. His care and concern were above and beyond, just fantastic!!! I usually use 5 star hotel accommodation and this was my first B&B experience.......it was extraordinary I every way.

Perfect position

Reviewed 9 june, 2018

This B and B is in the most perfect position and although there is a new owner since we booked two rooms Daniel was a great host. Breakfast was more than adequate and he was happy for us to put some refreshments in the fridge in the kitchen. We used the kitchen also at night to have a drink before dinner and once to make a light lunch, rolls with meat and cheese bought at a nearby supermarket. The rooms at the B and B have plenty of room, bathrooms are fine although one bathroom has a sloping ceiling and it was difficult to blow dry my hair. Not a great problem. Air con worked fine, fabulous views, great sunny but small balcony with washing line and pegs. No kettle and coffee maker in room but there are both in the kitchen

Warm welcome and beautiful views in the Sassi

Reviewed 4 april, 2018

Stayed here for 1 night at the end of March and our only regret is we wished we’d stayed longer - Matera really is an absolutely stunning place and the Slow Living B&B is a great base from which to explore it. Michele (the owner) was very welcoming and provided us a good recommendation as to where to park - a big modern multistory car park just out of the Sassi area (and 5 minutes walk only to the B&B). The B&B is in a gem of a spot, just inside the Sassi and near the highest part - hence the excellent views. Breakfast was very good also. Matera was bustling in the evening so you do get passing chatter outside the window - there were big shutters though so we were easily able to mostly shut out the noise. Would stay here again and would recommend Matera to anyone.
