bad experiences ever, the room was not clean at all. Price is not worth it. Bathroom has not clean towels and only cold water, the stove was not working. Only one staff person for the entire hotel. Although it is located in the best part of downtown. That’s the only nice thing about it.
Pleasant, affordable place in the heart of the historic downtown

Really lovely courtyard, which you can see in travelers' reviews, full of birds. Big suites, with "living room" area including fridge, stove, and sink. Right in the middle of the historic colonial center, with beautiful old buildings and squares - just a couple blocks from the Malecon in one direction, and Plazuela Machado in the other, both being hubs of social activity. Lots of good restaurants within a short walking distance, including El Presidio, Hector's Bistro and El Aljibe de San Pedro. A great part of town to feel a part of "real" Mexico in Mazatlan, as opposed to the more modern touristy Golden Zone area to the north (but easy to flag down an inexpensive pulmonia for a short ride there), and also close to Playa Sur where you can catch a boat to the long, laid-back beach of Isla de la Piedra (highly recommended). It's not fancy, as the price attests, but clean, comfortable, and convenient - even charming. My only warning is if you are someone who finds it hard to sleep, or hard to get back to sleep once you wake, there can outbursts of music from passing cars at all hours, probably especially on weekends and holidays when people are out partying.

The location is amazing! there are plenty of restaurants, bars, clubs, live music and the beach is 5 mins walking away. The area is very Noisy so if you are sensitive to noise I recommend ear plugs. Veronica the hotel manager is super nice and helpful with everything you need!

We really enjoyed our 5 night stay at the Melville. The location is ideal for walking these old streets in any direction. The plaza is only one block away where numerous cafes await you. If you are lucky you will hear the orchestra warming up at the Angela Peralta Theater while you sip your margarita in the sunshine. You are even luckier to hang out at the plaza on the weekend when live music, breakdancers, tourists and local families gather to enjoy the evening. Or walk three blocks west to the malacon to watch surfers, fishing boats, beach volleyball and hear Banda. You may tire of Banda. Our room was very clean, nicely furnished and comfortable. The hotel was fully occupied, but we were unaware of other guests. A parakeet in a cage just beyond our window kept a cheerful tune while we napped. We could hear walkers going by, bicycle tires on tile and church bells. Terrific restaurants were aplenty and close by. It was all good.
