Wonderful and spacious rooms
We stayed in this hotel during the holidays in December. It’s a small hotel, but the rooms are very well appointed and spacious. We booked the Arts & Crafts room - it has a king bed and a twin, but since we were a family of 4 they installed another twin bed. We had a great stay. All rooms have a different theme and have an antique style, which we adore. The bathroom was big with a tub and separate shower. The only minus was that we could hear people talking in other rooms, but it was quiet after 10-11 pm. Darlene, one of the owners, was there the whole time and was very attentive. In the hallway, right outside the room there’s a lounging area with fireplace and a kitchenette for guest use, which was very convenient. Breakfast was included but served outside the hotel in another cafe, due to COVID restrictions. The hotel also has 2 restaurants, a shop and candy shop. One restaurant was available for take out with just one menu option per day and the other was closed due to the same restrictions. The shop and candy store are so cute and we got some souvenirs. We absolutely loved our stay and recommend this hotel, small and familiar, with great comfort. The hotel has a perfect location with easy access to Mount Shasta (and a beautiful view too), and all the scenic areas around, like the waterfalls. We will definitely come back if in the area again.
LOVELY!
Stayed here in March '20 just before lockdown. McCloud is a lovely town. This property is just lovely. Beautiful common areas, quiet and inviting rooms. Hosts were very friendly and charming. Food from nearby cafe was excellent. We enjoyed a very quiet, restful stay. We're coming back for a longer visit - this town and this property in particular make for a very tranquil destination for a weekend retreat.
Loved this place
What a nice place to stay in a nice little town. We were arriving later than they stay open (7 pm on a Sunday) so they called me and said that the key would be taped to the door. Sure enough it was. I guess that says something for the town when you can just tape keys to the outside door! Anyway, we stayed in the "Friday George" room. The room was plenty big with a large bathroom and a view of Mount Shasta from the window. The bed was comfortable, the breakfast at the restaurant downstairs (voucher included) was excellent. Oh, and the restaurant at the end of the building was open after 7 on a Sunday and the food was very good. Would certainly stay here again.
Great Character
Been coming up to McCloud for thirty years, and tried all the places in town. The Mercantile is a great choice when visiting. The old company store has been lovingly restored and modernly furnished to afford guests with an attractive and comfortable stay in this historic town. Nice common area upstairs, unique gifts store, great breakfast restaurant, and appealing dinner at the Meat Market. All in all, the best option in lovely McCloud.
Superb!
I booked this hotel because of the reviews and am totally charmed and delighted. My 17 yr old niece and I are staying in “Great Grandmother’s Attic”. There is a queen size bed and a double bed in a huge room with loads of space and a gorgeous bathroom. We are so close to Mt Shasta, the views are gorgeous. The Main St is a throwback to earlier times. The Mercantile block has 2 restaurants, antique store, and candy store. I would love to come back and spend a couple nights.
