Room like a sauna
Stayed here for work. Was greeted by a very unenthusiastic receptionist who checked me in. As I opened the door to my room that stale stuffy smell hit me straight in the face. You could tell immediately a window hadn’t been opened in an age and the radiator was on full blast. I turned it down but to no avail..heat continued to pump out of it. Lay on top of the covers the whole night with the window wide open. If I got an hour worth of sleep that was the height of it. Breakfast was very poor the next morning also. Will never be back.
Amazing Dinner
Came for a meal with my wife on Friday night, had the 16oz Tomohawk Steak Special and it was one of the best meals I've ever had, if you're visiting the Ardboyne you HAVE to try it!! And for the size of the portion it's such a great deal! I'll be back again next week to have another one. From one very full satisfied customer!
Basics left a lot to be desired
This hotel is ideal for work, lots of parking and easy to get to. Unfortunately this is where the positives end. Took me ten minutes following cables behind furniture to find out how to turn off the bedside lamps as none of the switches will do it. Woke up in the morning to no toiletries in the bathroom. Contacted reception multiple times and after half an hour a little squeezy shampoo appeared, no shower gel. Later found that the toilet rolls were being rationed; you got a third of a roll and the best of luck after that. Breakfast was tasteless except for a mound of greasy mushrooms which I didn't order, nor were on the menu. I don't eat mushrooms but that morning everything tasted of mushroom. Turns out the chef didn't know the menu had changed ..... "Hello??" Maybe it's something to do with Covid but if you can't get the basics right, get out of the business.
Afternoon tea
sorry for the late review but better late than never. I won a competition on FB for afternoon tea for 2 and from start to finish it was fantastic. Jo and Eimear were fantastic in their service. The afternoon tea itself was amazing, plenty of it .I would highly recommend going here as it is such a treat and well worth a visit.
Lovely Atmosphere
My husband and I stayed over night for € 99, this included a main course dinner and breakfast . We found the hotel lovely and homely , all the staff were very friendly and helpful which I find a must these days. The food was really fresh and tasty . Highly recommend Paul kathy Mooney
