Lovely Covid-safe break in the sunshine! Overall, a lovely break.
The hotel itself is immaculate and attention to detail has been paid. It's obviously aimed at people aged 20-30 with plenty of Instagram-worthy spots. However, there's something for everybody. The food was good every night aside from the fish night where, as people who don't eat fish, we struggled to find something else to eat. The snack bar in the day is beautiful, although service can be a little slow - however, they are doing their best in a totally new time, in the heat wearing face masks. Cut them some slack! Cocktails are ok, but they are usually pre-mixed out of a bottle and we found we got a headache after one just due to the sugar levels. Also they are sometimes served in paper cups which go floppy. The plastic cups and white plastic glasses are much better - please get more of these and less paper!! The room was a good standard and even though we looked over the carpark our view was ok. It was a shock to wake up to the mosque call to prayer at 5:30am on our first day but we got used to it. There are plenty of shops nearby and the people working weren't too pushy, and as two women on our own we were worried about that, but they were really friendly. The entertainment was nice and relaxed most of the time, aside from the Beach Party which was excellently done - we really enjoyed that! More seating would have been great but the sunbeds were fine. It was a great night and managed very well. The only real downside to the hotel was the rudeness from mainly guests. We witnessed guests shouting at staff, complaining over nothing and just generally being obnoxious to others. It's not the hotel's fault at all, but it really is infuriating. Also, the staff at the spa and some reception staff were very rude. The spa in particular, although the manager on duty dealt with our problem quickly (the receptionist at the spa accused me of stealing their towels and called me a thief - CCTV showed I hadn't, although I don't see why anyone would steal them anyway!) but like I said, the manager sorted it. Two members of staff who really stood out were Dondu on the pool bar and Ayhan in the restaurant. They really made our stay special. Ayhan dealt with some horribly rude guests and we were horrified to see how he was spoken to. He worked so hard and we made sure to try and sit in his section of the restaurant every night. Dondu made a special effort with cocktails and always had a chat, she was lovely. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you
Not quite a 5 Star
We have holidayed in Turkey and stayed in many 5 star hotels. First the good, our room was a standard we were asked upon arrival if we wanted to upgrade to a side sea view which we declined, and we got one anyway. Room was lovely and spotlessly clean, as was all the hotel. Face masks given out for use in dining rooms, and temperature taken on entering both the hotel and dining room. Lovely big family pool and water slides. Infinity pool which was amazing. And beds available on beach and jetty. The reception staff were nice, especially the 2 ladies who were lovely and went out of their way to help. Waiters and bar staff also very friendly, in particular the girl who works at the pool bar. Now the not so good, the food wasn’t to our liking, we aren’t fussy eaters but we have had much better in other hotels. The drinks, we upgraded to ultra, which included a few branded drinks and it stayed free up until 2 am instead of midnight. Not too sure if it is worth 10 euro a night. Drinks around the pool bar on a night were okay, could do with more staff to avoid big queues and they tended to use paper cups, cocktails weren’t anything special, come on guys this is a 5 star hotel, trim them up a bit, give them a bit of fruit at least. There are a few shops nearby, hotel could be perfect for a nice relaxing holiday. But the food is a big part of our holiday and for that reason we won’t be returning.
White city resort review
We are just coming to the end of a fantastic week here at the resort. The resort have taken every step to make you feel safe during covid. Cleaning everything thoroughly and sanitisation stations throughout. Volkan and the entertainment staff providing a variety of games every day with lots of enthusiasm and positive encouragement. Izzet and the restaurant staff providing great service with a smile (beneath the masks). Making extra efforts to build relationships with each party and remembering their specific needs. Absolutely no negativity experienced as British tourists, so would encourage you to ignore those reviews. Rude people get cold responses and nice attitudes will be returned with nice responses. Finally Isimial (Isy) and his wellness staff were very welcoming each morning before the gym and provided us with top class massages and sun treatment (recommendation is to get this as close to the start of the holiday as possible). Overall a great week! Michael and Amy ("Champion")
Overall a great holiday!
12 nights all inclusive family break booked at short notice due to cancellation of previous holiday due to covid. Overall I really liked the resort, the efforts made to keep the hotel clean and guests safe were really good. In the restaurant a waiter by the name of Utku regularly served us and his service was second to none! Always made us feel welcome, sat us in the same seat when possible, remembered our favourite drinks and preferences and made us laugh. The food was good, it would have been nice to get ice cream as dessert as this seemed missing. The cleaners did a nice swan type decoration with towels and the bed sheets when they cleaned the room which was a nice little surprise. Hotel staff overall were friendly, the local shop inside had a few good bargains and staff were helpful. There was a friendly guy called Volkan who sort out the entertainment who regularly comes around to ensure you're having fun. A la carte experience was good, really liked the Halva dessert! Room wise it would have been nice if the TVs were able to get Netflix etc but its not the end of the world! They could do with filing down the wood on the cupboards which hold the fridges in the room as twice I cut off the skin off my finger whilst opening the fridge as it can nip if you're not careful. I have never been to Turkey before so it wasa first for me but I would definitely go again!
