Very Good Hotel for short stay
The hotel was fine for a short stay. The room comfortable and the hotel staff helpful. It is central for the old town which is well worth exploring. Our experience in the bar was appalling: one guy, all alone, taking orders, delivering food and drink to the tables, taking money, cleaning up - everything by one guy - consequently waiting times and frustration was high in a busy bar/cafe. Do not use the hotel bar , go across the road to Roberts Bar which is great.
A few days in Memmingen
I enjoyed my sojourn in Memmingen very much. Drexel’s Parkhotel was very comfortable . The room was large , and very quiet, with an enormous bathroom, but with bath / shower access that was difficult. Staff were very pleasant , helpful, breakfast was good, and dinner in the restaurant next door excellent.Memmingen, known as the town of ‘gates ,towers and gables ‘ is slightly off the main tourist circuit, and therefore much to be valued! There are many picturesque old buildings, large parts of the old town walls, as well as normal modern shops. The railway station is very conveniently positioned on the edge of the historic old town ( I used only trains and local buses), and is a flat and easy walk to the hotel.I travelled by train to Memmingen from Konstanz, and took day trips by train from Memmingen to Munich and , Sigmaringen, and a local bus to neighbouring Buxheim to see the famous carved choirstalls in the former monastery.
Very nice hotel and staff
Beautiful rooms, very clean, normal price for a 4 star hotel. Staff helpful. Highly recommended. Restaurant is closed for winter time, so I cannot rate. Location is fantastic, parking is 30 meters! The room is well equipped, really impressing, view is nice
Two nights in a typical hotel
If you need a bed in Memmingen and breakfast, Drexel's Parkhotel does the job and not much more. I was overall unimpressed during my two-night stay. The shower is combined with the bathtub, which had really high sides so you have to be careful while you step in to not fall. The shower head is a nozzle that you have to hold in your hand at all times. It is hung so low, that you cannot use it like a normal shower. The clear barrier around the bathtub only goes around half of it, so you have to be careful not to splash. You will probably splash anyway. The breakfast spread is not that bad and under 10 EUR. They ask for your room number so they know to charge you for breakfast. I was disappointed to find out after I left that they had charged me for an extra breakfast the second morning when I did not go to breakfast. When I checked out, the employee asked me if I was German and told me his age and that he was single. He also kissed my hand. Nothing happened but be cautious anyway.
Nice hotel
The location of the hotel is excellent. The staff was nice and helpful. I stayed in a single room and it was comfortable and spacious. Even the bathroom was pretty big especially for a single room. The bed was pretty comfortable and the room was very quiet. It does look a bit dated but it was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a bit too dark.
