Excellent hotel with excellent staff, especially Carl Washington!

From the moment I walked in the door Mr. Washington greeted me happily with a smile. He is an asset to the company as he truly cares about his guest’s experience. He went above and beyond to make sure we were in a comfortable room. He was always so friendly and kind every time we encountered him.
This hotel is a very nice hotel with little touches that make the stay more special.
The hotel is very clean and appears recently renovated.
The location is very good and the trolley stop just down the street is very convenient.
The complimentary breakfast in the morning is outstanding and the breakfast attendants are are very friendly and always replenishing items.
Every staff member I encountered was extremely gracious and kind, right down to the valet.
I would stay again at this fine hotel if ever I have the opportunity and I definitely recommend it to others.
Lovely building close to Beale Street

First off, let me compliment Ina and Lafayette for providing outstanding customer service. They are an asset to Marriott.
This is a quirky building in a convenient location. Our Queen studio was cramped with a very tight entryway. Once in the room, I discovered an odd, deep, unlit walk in closet but no drawers so I was unable to completely unpack (which drives me nuts). Speaking of lighting, the room definitely needs brighter lights throughout. Shower was very good. Bed was comfortable but pillows were not. This hotel dropped the ball on my multi year, standing request for feather pillows. I’m a lifetime Gold member and, as such, am usually upgraded. Alas, not this time. Oh, breakfast was mostly back to normal standards. FYI, if you stay here, there is a BBQ on the roof with seating and good views.
Antique beauty in the heart of Memphis

I actually loved the setup of the suite! I got this room to surprise my husband for our 6 years of dating. They had everything I needed to cook. The lady at the desk was a BOSS at her job! The valet staff had cars all jammed up, wouldn’t help me, brushed me off. This woman came out, got the cars in order, got the valet together, and came in to greet all of us with a smile! Give her a raise! I would definitely stay again just because of how well she made our stay! The hotel is older with a lot of history, which I was unsure about but it’s in a good way. It gives it a very classy feel.
It had promise, but overall disappointing

During booking and when we first arrived, the hotel had so much promise; beautiful historic building that is well-located. But throughout our short stay we were disappointed.
This location is dog friendly, but I don’t think they get many guests with dogs. The locked front lobby door was a hassle and staff was not friendly in explaining how it works. I was especially surprised when we were locked *inside* the lobby at 9am when trying to take our dog out to potty in the morning. This was especially strange because the night before the front desk staff had been telling my husband how safe the area is.
Additionally, when I went to look at the breakfast area with my dog in tow, a worker told me I had to leave and “go outside” because I had a dog. She said I wasn’t allowed in the hallway anywhere near the dining area (which was empty and had signs saying “closed”) while I had a dog with me. Still, I appreciate that we were even allowed to have a dog with us.
Valet was convenient and reasonably priced for downtown I thought. However they did accidentally bring our car around at one point though we hadn’t called for it.
The bed was uncomfortable, but the shower was incredible. The room was overall really nice, just a bit cramped which is expected for downtown.
Overall I would have given 2 bubbles, but I added one for the quality of the room and beauty of the building.
Nice Place, Good Location

We dropped in for the first part of our vacation - visiting Memphis. This hotel is several blocks away from Beale Street - which means it's within walking distance, but nice and quiet.
The room was clean and tidy, and comfortable. A nice wide screen TV was on the wall, with good services available for free.
We took several long walks to Beale Street to look around and take in the sights. The hotel is also close to several noteworthy restaurants, including the Rendezvous, which is a famous rib place.
The bed was comfortable, the shower and bathrooms were clean, and the hotel offered free breakfast daily, with hot and cold items available.
We're physically fit, so we walked to Sun Records, and to the Bass Pro Shop pyramid. There were those rental scooters everywhere, so if you aren't so fit and can balance, that can be a way to get around for a cost.
The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. It's hard not to like this place.
