Excellent experience

Reviewed 19 august, 2022

Staff were very accommodating, room was quiet and comfortable. We were pleased to be offered free parking at a nearby location. The breakfast was varied and satisfactory. The best was the access to the downtown affordable trolley. Very convenient location. No trouble finding.

No sofa bed, just a trundle bed.

Reviewed 5 august, 2022

It was very difficult to get to this hotel. Our GPS kept on wanting us to go through Main Street, which is for pedestrians and the trolley only. Entry is from Front street. After turning around and around, we get to the hotel hoping for valet. None that week. We were sent to park on our own in a building on Front street and given a code to go in and out. In my frazzled state, I could not understand the instructions the receptionist was giving me. In the end, he came out and pointed to the building. No fee for that. However, they didn't have large luggage carriers, and as we were traveling for a long time and staying 4 days, we had to do 2 trips with it to transfer all of our luggages. The bar was closed. The room was in the historic Kress building, so we had to cross over to that building from the reception. It was a large suite, with 2 queen beds on one side, half a wall, and a trundle bed on the other side. The room was very confortable. The beds were confortable and so were the linens. Irritants - too much light through bathroom doors! When someone would go to the bathroom, the light shone in my face the whole time even though they closed the door. It was pretty annoying, mostly at night when it woke me up. Also, under his trundle bed was a whole bunch of junk left by preceeding occupants. It was never cleaned while we were there. From the description online, I thought there would be a sofa bed and a trundle bed. Just a trundle bed in our room. We also had a small fridge. We appreciated how, without us asking, they left a bag of towels attached to the doorknob on day 2. Breakfast was OK, the room was fairly small, and a homeless man kept on knocking in the window in the morning. The breakfast attendant did what she could to push him away though. There was waffles, eggs, meats, oatmeal, cereals and breads. We really enjoyed the hard boiled eggs in that location. The hotel is very well located, on Main street and walkable to Beale Street or the Pyramid. The university is right there too. Staff was OK.

Average hotel

Reviewed 24 july, 2022

This was a very average hotel. It was clean and the rooms were quiet. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was very picked over by the time we got there (which was on the later side of their “open” hours). The location was good. The lobby bar was closed. We had to self park (because of a roof top carrier) and were still charged the $25 valet fee in the parking lot (which was not a garage, just a lot). It didn’t make much sense to me.

Very disappointing. Very.

You would expect a minimum standard fora Marriott hotel in a competitive downtown area such as Memphis'. Well, sorry to say you'd be disappointed here. I know I was. Extremely. Upon arrival, I was informed there was no self parking. Wasn't happy but it was my fault for not checking thoroughly. So, the stay just became $25/day more expensive. Again my fault so not counting for the score. Before the check-in I requested an extra towel and blanket via app that was ignored. Check-in: I was not expecting a red carpet, but they could at least try to make it look like they care for you being there. To be, it felt like I was doing them a favor for being there. Long faces, nothing welcoming. Eh, maybe a bad day. Room: good and spacious. You could fit 4 adults and 4 kids/teens. A plus there. Then we noticed there's no water bottles in the room. Tried the vending machine in our floor. Only takes cash. Put at least 5 different bills in there, machine wouldn't take any. Went down to buy some. They were out. I asked if they'd replenish, as I'd wait. They just said no. To try the bar. Went for bar, they had 1 bottle. Told me I could go to the smoke shop next door or get from fountain at the gym. Tried the gym. Empty. At least the guy in the bar was kind enough to replace that one so I could drink some water. Throughout, nobody really seemed to care. Later I went down to get some more. They had water for sale and the guy (same from the bar) gave me 2 for free. It was kind of him. Later, I called front desk to ask for the extra towel and blanket. Was told I had to go to front desk to get it myself. Breakfast: decent. There's just not enough tables. Summary: they couldn't care less for us being there or not. Worst hotel experience I've ever had.

Nice hotel in Downtown Memphis!

Reviewed 25 june, 2022

This hotel was nice average in a good location in Downtown Memphis, TN. The rooms are big updated but still needed some repairs. The pool area was not appealing at all. Lobby and staff was nice. You have to do valet parking here because there are 3 Marriott properties right next to each other. This property was nice it does the job for the price point but not upscale.
