The room was ok. Everywhere seemed clean enough except the carpet-that was filthy. The room was a good size with plenty of parking just outside the door. The girl on check in was friendly enough but didnt really seem to know what she was doing. The location was spot on-easy walk to Beale Street. We didnt feel unsafe at all walking to and from the hotel even late at night. I would probably stay here again due to the location and bargain price
While this motel is fairly average generally, it's in a great location. Older style motel where you drive up and park outside your room. There is limited security (relying on a single door), and safe was locked and could not be unlocked to use (we checked). Curtains were faded and had holes in them. Furniture was worn and dirty. Easy parking on site - we had a car which we used to visit Graceland, Sun Studios, Bass Pro, Civil Rights Museum/Lorraine Motel. There is a pool which we did not get a chance to use. Short walk to Beale St, although need to keep your eyes open and your wits about you as some interesting characters around. Plenty of fast food options further down Union Ave (by car). Overall not a bad base for exploring Memphis, and you get what you pay for!
We came at 12:30 pm to checkin. The front desk lady told us, she couldn't do checkin until 3:00 pm. So we came back at 3:00 pm. She gave us room keys. When we open door room wasn't ready, smell really bad. So she gave us another keys, room nbr.122, where we barely could walk in bathroom, because of toilet (see picture). Breakfast was: coffee, some cookies and really ugly oranges. But this hotel is the cheapest and short walking distance to The Beal Street. Other hotels which are close to The Beal Street are really expensive. Ice maker was out of order....in the middle of summer. Staff members were nice and friendly.
Adequate - just!
The only good thing really was the location near to Autozone Park to watch the Memphis Redbirds play. The room just felt and looked dirty - didn't take our shoes off once to walk on the carpet or bathroom floor. Had to request our room to be cleaned and have fresh towels on two of the three days we were there. Beds were fine and if you treated it as we did - simply somewhere to sleep then it will be ok. If you want somewhere to kick back and relax then spend more money and go elsewhere.
Strange but comfortable
So, this hotel was very cheap and just a very short walk from most things that we were there for. The room was comfortable but the AC was noisy. It wasn’t the cleanest place we’ve stayed but it was really cheap and we were not expecting a whole lot for our money. The pool was open however it gets invaded by the local lads looking to cool down which spoilt it a bit. Breakfast finishes at 0900 however, it is cleared away by 0830...... that was frustrating. Overall, don’t expect too much, if you want more then pay up and go else where. Staff were very pleasant and friendly.
