Hotel Santa Ana

Friendly staff, lush grounds, incredibly friendly staff. The breakfast was an added bonus. The location is perfect for walking and experiencing different neighborhoods. We were planning on staying longer in the hotel but upon arrival, we realized the room was small for the purpose we had in mind (digital nomad) & we had a lot of luggage as we planned on in Merida for an extended period. The staff was very understanding and accommodating and provided a full refund.

I was a former frequent visitor to this property but now maintain an apartment in Merida so visits are less frequent. But due to electrical issues at the apartment this visit, I returned to the Santa Ana. I was not disappointed and really totally impressed. To start, I will say the staff remains totally impressive. For the most part, they never change and most have been there for many years. Dulce, at the front desk, is always totally impressive and so helpful. Working another shift, is Juan, also an amazing employee. With amazingly low prices, the rooms and other facilities are well maintained and always spotlessly clean. While breakfast is not included, it is a very good value and served in a pleasant outdoor Cafe environment. In the front desk area, free coffee, soft drinks and other snacks are available for purchase at modest prices Just a bit about the service. Up on arrival, Dulce accompanied me to my room to verify that everything was in working order. Later when I had a question about the Wi-Fi, Juan insisted on coming to the room to check the signal and make certain everything was correct. All in all, the hotel delivers an amazing product, especially considering the hotel is in the budget price range. Totally recommended.

I have been a fan of the Santa Ana for many years but has been sometime since I had the opportunity to stay there. Due to some air conditioning problems at my Merida place, the first thing I thought I was to go to the Santa Ana. And happy I did. I was greeted by very friendly and efficient front desk clerk. As always I ask for a first floor room and I can see he was a bit puzzled and asked me to wait a minute and then returned with the manager. Seems they have just renovated all the first floor rooms and the manager told me the only one available was not quite finished if I wanted to see it. Turns out all that meant was some bathroom window trim was not in place and the new shower curtain was not yet there. No problem at all. A well done room and a really beautiful bathroom. The manager then told me it would be about 15 minutes before he could get the maid to clean it and make up the beds. I told him no problem I would wait in their little lobby and coffee area.(I should add, the manager saw that I was a bit hot and brought me a cold glass of water to the front desk) While waiting there, the receptionist came and asked if he can make me a cup of coffee , which he did and served it to me at one of the tables. Really above and beyond what I expected. The newly remodeled rooms, are simple but with quality furnishings, all in good taste. Good air conditioning and cable TV on a large flat screen. I highly recommend the Santa Ana. Oh, and the price for all of this was about $19.

If you are looking for a no nonsense, good value, unpretentious little hotel in Merida, with a relaxed and charming atmosphere, I can highly recommend Hotel Santa Ana. I stayed for 6 nights at the start of my trip in early March, just before Covid-19 became a worldwide issue and it was exactly what I was hoping it would be. It’s in a quiet and safe area, across the street from Parque Santa Ana and an easy 10min walk from the centre of Merida. It has a nice breakfast area and small enclosed tropical courtyard with a pool and loungers. The bilingual staff were very friendly and helpful even to those of us that don’t speak Spanish. My room was cleaned/serviced daily and was always spotless when I returned at the end of the day after exploring many of Merida’s sights. I hope it’s just as good next time I visit Merida!

I recently had a lovely stay of nine nights at the Hotel Santa Ana in Merida’s Centro district. I found the place utterly charming. Rooms on 3 floors surround a petite courtyard with banana palms and a pool. Cheerful bilingual concierges advised, assisted with planning, and called a taxi when needed. There was excellent and timely housekeeping, a general atmosphere of safety and tranquility, on-site (not included in price of the room) breakfast served in the high-ceilinged open-air hall adjacent to the pool, free coffee for all, and a central location. My room was very quiet and had a firm mattress, a frig and a tv and a private bathroom with lots of hot water, good A/C and plenty of closet space. The property is located 7 long blocks from the Plaza Grande, the center of the action. Many times I thoroughly enjoyed the walk, although it could be hot and dusty. Next time I will ask the concierge to call me a taxi more of the time – it costs $2.50 and takes about 4 minutes. My bathroom sink did have some cracks and the few guests who smoked were allowed to do so outside. Given what an amazing value it all was, these things were not of great concern. Delightful. My next stay will be longer. Merida favorite places: nightly theatrical/musical events near the Plaza Grande, rooftop terrace of Picheta (one floor above the restaurant), Apoala restaurant (get Ensalada de la Casa), Museo de la Gastromia Yucateca restaurant, Chaya Maya restaurant original branch at Calle 57 y 62 (not the one at Santa Lucia), free walking tours (a tip for the guide is well-deserved).
