More about the hotel
Wouldn’t stay again / no volvería
First of all, we are super disappointed with the chain. We’ve stayed before in Grand Fiesta Americana in Guadalajara and everything was perfect. The hotel is pretty dated and it has nothing to do with the category of “Grand” and to be honest nothing to do with Fiesta Americana at all. More like a sad 3 star hotel or a Fiesta Inn. I feel bad writing this because everyone in the staff is doing their job right (except housekeeping), I would like to give a big shout out to front desk, concierge and all the boys in motor lobby who always solved everything we asked for in the best polite and efficient way possible. Good things: room view was amazing, big tv, location, breakfast personal goes above and beyond and friendly front of the house staff. Bad things: dated hotel, we didn’t had drinking water the day we arrived, we didn’t have coffee maker in room or glasses or anything (they told us at the third day we needed to order it to concierge, but hey, it’s not our job to figure it out!), we pulled out the ironing board on the first day and it stayed down the whole stay (part of the room cleaning means to put it away), hair dryer wasn’t working properly, there was no mini bar service and the mini fridge wasn’t even plugged to cool our own water, spa was closed (we were told COVID, but I stayed in other hotels during this last months and this it’s the only one closed. To me it looks like they are low on staff), they charged us for parking, we didn’t have car but our friend went to visit us and she couldn’t use our parking cause she was forced to pay valet, and last, there was always dust in the room, on the shelves like they never dusted it off properly. In short words, they aren’t offering many things that would make my stay worth a grand fiesta Americana hotel, but they are indeed charging for it. I do understand the situation with the pandemic, and I wish you all the best, but for the same price there are better hotels in the same area.
Good location and nice room; not very accommodating staff.
My wife and I visited Mexico City this last February and stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. Although I asked for a top floor a couple of weeks prior to my arrival I was placed on a third floor room, even after insisting on a higher floor on my arrival (there is construction on the bottom floors of this hotel and pretty loud hammering heard when you enter it). Although they promised that we would not hear anything and that we would be moved higher the next day, those promises never realized. At 8AM you can hear the knocking of the workers, which woke us up every day. Although the location is great, the room very comfortable and the dining room on one of the top floors has a nice view of the Chapultepec park, I felt that the staff had no intention to accommodate us (I suppose because the room was already paid for) and that left us with a sour feeling about this hotel.
Hotel under construction
Was desperate to get a good lie-in, very early in the morning though started hearing thudding, rang the reception, apparently they are doing construction work. What is the point of a nice hotel if you can’t sleep well in it? And why did they put me on 10th floor if doing construction just above me? And why didnt they let me know and ask if i had a preference to be lower down where i would not hear it? When i rang reception they said: we wanted you to have a nice view. Incidentally the view from the room was of a carpark.
Hotel under Construction/ Poor Service/ Staff Dishonest
Avoid this property at all cost. The entire hotel is under construction and the staff denies it while you hear the hammer all day in the lobby. The entire staff promises you things to make you temporary happy but never delivers on their promises. I stayed here 6 nights for a work trip. Every day they made up another excuse. The lies come from the bottom to the top. when you complain they laugh about you behind your back. The entire staff is trained to lie.
Nice Rooms
Nice Rooms Very confortable and spacious! The location of this hotel is great, lot of things on walking distance. The only thing I didnt like, is that the bar was lonely, quiet and with too much light. But there are other places to hang out in the area!
