Average hotel in a great location
Our stay here was sufficient but nothing remarkable. I would likely pick a different place in the future if my travels bring me back to Miami unless I got an exceptional deal here. First, the good: The front desk staff, especially the woman who checked us in upon arrival, was wonderful. She was extremely friendly and accommodating. Also, the location was great as it was easily walkable to Lincoln Rd, Ocean Dr, and the beach. The average: The decor furnishings were average in design aesthetic and quality but everything seems clean enough. The not-so-good: The lock on our door was not working properly because there was a large gap between the handle on the door and the face plate connected to the frame. I could actually open the door without the code by using some strength. The maintenance guy came in the morning and replaced the face plate so it made it stronger but that should have been done before anyone was checked in to that room. Also, there was nowhere to sit in the room other than on the bed. The pictures all show chairs but we had none in our room. It makes it awkward to eat breakfast or even a snack in the room.
LOUD AS HELL
I am writing this review at 4am after being woken up by the TV in the neighboring room, which the occupant refuses to turn down despite my requests. Last night I was in another room and asked to be transferred because a party was going on all night next door. The walls are paper thin. Do NOT come to this hotel if you want to sleep at night.
Better options
We came here over New Years and wish we stayed somewhere else. So the good: the location is pretty central, it’s about a 10-15 min walk to most places. It’s a block away from the beach. You get a voucher for a beach chair and towels. The beach space is a bit dinky but better than nothing. Bad: the reception is always busy - there is always a line. They do not pick up the phone when you call. The hotel has lots of people but it’s dead...all the bars/food are closed so all you get is a room. The pool area looks cute on pictures but in reality it’s small. I understand that it’s covid so they are saving money but all the other hotels had bars open and music playing which would have made this hotel much more fun!! The rooms were ok - we had a suite which was dark, in 5 days they brought us 2 extra towels. The sink wouldn’t drain and the bedroom and bathroom were tiny. The walls are very thin, you can here everyone around. Overall if you’re spending this much, you’re probably better off getting a room in a more fun and lively place!
Wonderful Stay
A few girlfriends and I went down to Miami for a quick trip getaway on South Beach. This hotel was very clean, staff was friendly, and the location was great! The rate also included free seats on the beach which was only a 5 minute walk away. I would definitely stay here again.
Pre- Cruise Stay In South Beach
My partner and I stayed here for one night before a cruise. We got through the airport just in time to get the complementary hotel shuttle. On arrival at the hotel the lady at the reception desk was welcoming and friendly. Our room was good overall as it was clean and spacious with the bedroom, bathroom a sitting and kitchen area.. However, the main problem for us was that the air conditioning unit was very very noisy and we had to turn it off at night to get to sleep. This resulted in the room becoming very hot overnight. There was also a damp smell to the room and some areas, particularly in the bathroom, were a bit tatty and could do with some repair. The location of the hotel is great. As we only had a short time in Miami it was perfect for us being only a short walk to South Beach as well as restaurants/ bars so we could get dinner after a long day of travelling. There is also a supermarket close by which is useful. We had the complimentary breakfast in the morning, the selection is very small but we enjoyed the waffles and the staff were friendly. Breakfast is served in the hotel reception areas which is very small with limited seating. On check- in it was mentioned to us that there was use of beach towels and sunbeds on South Beach, however we did not make use of this facility. Overall, Riviere South Beach Hotel is ok for a short stay, however mainly due to the issue with the air conditioning I would not want to stay here for a number of nights.
