Staying at Hyatt Place has always been an option for me. Hyatt Place Downtown Minneapolis did not disappoint. Staff is very helpful, Toni helped us find what places to visit and what to and we ended up having 30 short but amazing hours in Minneapolis

Parking. We circled the parking garage three times before finding a place to park. I asked for a view of the city during booking, the rom we were assigned was across from a very tall building and all you could see was a tall building from our window. The view was completely obstructed. When asked if we could move rooms, we were placed in a slightly better room. Right by the elevator so there was a lot of traffic and noise. The view was a little better but absolutely nothing like the pictures which is what made me choose this hotel to begin with. The TVs continuously went “offline” so we couldn’t watch tv. The show would be interpreted again and again with the little “no signal” LG display on the screen. You can feel the springs in the bed. The sofa is uncomfortable. If you sit on it and prop your feet up to recline and relax, the pillows slide off, every time. When opening the door to the refrigerator the door came off track and wouldn’t close properly. I immediately went to the desk to inform them, no one ever came up to fix it. The door cover had a lot of screws in it, appearing to have been poorly repaired before. I stepped on tacks between the bathroom entryway where the carpet must be lifting. The pool had something swirling around, appearing to be a ton of residue, didn’t look clean at all, we didn’t get in. Outside the building is worse. People from the shared space, apartments/condos were hanging outside of the building, loitering and smoking and drinking. Very uncomfortable to stand near while waiting on a Uber. To enter the hotel you must come through another building, people who live in the building are were sitting on the steps hanging out which is in front of the only elevators and using the hotel elevator. The shared space was terrible and very unsettling. We traveled 12 hours for a birthday getaway for my fiancé and it was horrible!

The place is OK. The staff (especially Stephanie and Paul are lovely). The rooms do have wear and tea (mold in shower and many stains on rug). There are also popcorn cielings so perhaps its time for a remodel. I did upgrade to a higher floor room thinking it would be quiet. The hotel is above a parking garage so you are elevated already. Morever, my neighbors were a bunch of frat kids having a party. So much for quiet! The breakfast varied every day (sometimes pancakes other times waffles other times just eggs). More consistency would have been appreciated. I am also dying to know why the shampoo bottles say "country inn and suites" and the other products are the normal Kennt MD products Hyatts give. I get that this is a limited service hotel (no daily housekeeping) but its still odd.
I would like to make a side note about COVID. I didn't see the staff going out of their way to do anything. Only some staffers wore masks. The windows don't open anywhere, so I imagine that the air is quite stale. No masks or hand sanitizer are put in rooms.

Ask to work with Paul Dawson -- an incredibly knowledgable, upbeat, and organized group sales planner, who helped us at every turn with reservations, group meal planning, and other details. We had a wedding weekend block at Hyatt Place Minneapolis Downtown and could not have been more pleased with the gorgeous, spacious rooms, great price value, venue location and extras (free shuttle to and from the wedding space), and plentiful free breakfasts. Our guests loved walking to Stone Arch Bridge, US Bank Stadium, and other spots close by. Would return to this spot again and recommend it highly!

We were a group of 5 adults and a baby staying for the weekend. They had an amazing large room with 2 separate bedrooms and a large living room area. It was perfect for our family getaway and we were not tripping over each other.
