Good for the price. Walls are thin and the beds are a little hard, but you can’t beat having the waffle stop right there. Parking can be a little rough in the evenings but if you’re ubering everywhere it’s not something to worry about. Location wise it’s ten to 15 minutes from all the things you’re going to want to see.
Fair for the price

It was worth it and the price very decent. The hotel is quiet and is clean. Probably a little bit old but nothing mayor. The location is perfect and the area is safe, you can go anywhere from here. The service is decent and the lady in the front desk very helpfull.

Excellent place to stay. Quiet, clean. We asked for an extra blanket & they promptly brought us two. Unfortunately, we couldn’t take advantage of the breakfast but enjoyed the in- room coffee. Just really couldn’t ask for a better experience.
Ok if you know what to expect

I don't quite agree with the very high rating that this place gets on TA. We stayed for three nights in a double-queen bed. The best thing about this motel is the rate and the free parking (which all hotels nearby offer, but not the ones in downtown). Although the rooms have been updated (beds, furniture), you must understand what you get: a really old, basic motel. This means the smallest bathroom ever seen in a hotel room, with paint peeling off in places. When the neighbors flush the toilet, it's a really loud roar. You will hear your neighbors' conversations and TV, etc. It is a bit like putting lipstick on a pig. Minus one star because the first night our beds were not done, with the excuse of Covid. We were told that we should have requested this service (?!). I think that we should have been told about this policy at checkin. Another weird thing: at checkin, among the usual small prints about extra charges for smoking and pets, I was asked to initial fine print that would authorize the hotel to charge us $300 for "excessive noise"--without specifying what this means. This is a first for me. I declined to initial this. The lady didn't care. The pool area looks good, is clean, and maintained even in the dead of winter (ah, San Diego). My kids enjoyed it. There is no breakfast included, but the co-located restaurant was open every day, including Christmas day, for breakfast. The food is very good and the portions are large, but $$$. Service is excellent. However, there's an abundance of passive-aggressive signs at the entrance, and they did not seat another party until everyone was present--even though the place was practically empty. This did not make us feel welcome. A bit more customer service and less policies, please! If traveling with a family, you maybe better off choosing a place with a higher hotel class and breakfast included. The room rate will be more, but you will save money in the end and be in a more comfortable room.
