Beautiful location near Carcassone.
This property is in a beautiful location 15 km from Carcassone. It is close to the quaint village of Monreal which has essential shops, a good restaurant /bar and a good supermarket. We did our shopping there and cooked at home in the kitchen of the property. The owner is really nice, helpful and speaks good English. Although the property is old it is very comfortable and being on top of a hill, has great views over the Aude River Valley. We would recommend it as a peaceful place to stay but in easy reach of Carcassonne.
Lovely Location if you want peace and quiet...Remote
Stayed 2 nights at this location. The room was large but basic the bathroom was great though (obviously new). The communal kitchen was useful if cluttered. The swimming pool was not open (it is seasonal) , we were not able to see the pool so it is definately not attached directly to the property. I would imagine that you would have to walk to it so don't plan to walk out of your apartment straight to the pool. A small meal service is advertised...although the night that we wanted to use it the owner wasn't at home. The nearest village is about 3 miles away and there is 1 restaurant (opens at 7pm) and 1 Pizza shop ( no food in the evening) 1 bar. Make sure you have food with you before you go to apartment otherwise you will go hungry. Breakfast was included in our rate this was a croissant and some crusty bread and jam tea, coffee, orange juice...satisfactory. One or two nights is enough due to the remoteness.
Needs finishing.
Beautiful area. Clean but very basic. No chair to sit on in the room. No pictures on the wall. Cheap basic cutlery. No towel rail. Skirting boards etc not painted. No stand for suitcase. Friendly. Would be nice if finished and even better if dinners available as you are not within easy walking distance of town.
advice to other travellers after a days driving
Hell of a place to find due to lack of signs rough distance between signs would help.Would advise eat before you arrive as much has to be learnt in the kitchen! [problem even with chips re-heated burnt brown to black],saucisson not sliced on the plate with a blunt knife!!!!.breakfast a lot to be learnt. En-quite bedroom was very good and peacefull
Lovely Countryside
The Domaine De La Petite Tour is situated in the countryside and is a very peaceful place to stay. Four of us shared a two bedroom apartment and it served our needs well. Some work seemed to be still going on in the apartment but it was spacious and clean.
