Great location, Great staff

Reviewed 17 october, 2021

The staff were wonderful - they couldn't have been more helpful. The location is excellent for old Montreal, and near to bus stops and not too far from the metro. Room was adequate, it would have benefited from a brighter central light, but had everything you needed, including a full size fridge. Bed was nice and comfortable. The breakfasts were ok - there were limitations due to Covid, but again the staff were as accommodating as they could be. The price is a little high on comparison at face value with other hotels, but the service and location made it well worth it. Would happily stay again.

Fantastic Location

Springhill Suites in Old Montreal has a fantastic location and is a really great value. Located right off famous Saint-Paul Street and a block from the port of Old Montreal this hotel has an amazing location for restaurants, shopping, Nortre Dame Basilica, Montreal Science Centre, La Grande Roue, Voiles en Voiles and countless other activities to keep you busy. We were wanting to stay at the Ritz Carlton in Montreal but we really liked the idea of staying in Old Montreal and at 1/3 the price we were able to use the money we saved for excursions and nice meals out.

Best thins is the location. The rest is pretty average

Three of us stayed at this hotel in mid September 2021. The best thing about this hotel is the location. It’s located steps away from Rue Saint Paul which is a walking street full of little restaurants and shops. It’s a short walk to Notre Dame church and the shops at the waterfront and Marche Bon Secours building which houses many artisans. There were three of us and we got a suite with too double beds and a pull out sofa. The tv stand was in an awkward place. Once you open the sofa-bed, whoever is on the bedroom side is stuck and can't get past the open sofa to get water out of the fridge. The person on the sofa bed has access to the whole room, depending on which side of the sofa they get up from. It's a little tight when the sofa is opened. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Due to the Covid situation, you will have to make your own bed, put your garbage bins outside the door when they need to be emptied, and ask for towels when you need more. There is no maid service and non one collects towels. Those go outside your room as well. I found the room quite dark. There are no overhead lights. There is a floor lamp and a night table lamp in the sofa area as well as a night table lamp in the bedroom area. They aren't terribly bright. Difficult to tell blue from black! The toilette and tub/shower are in their own room and the sink is in an alcove just outside the bathroom door. Makes it convenient for someone to use the bathroom or shower while someone else is brushing their teeth. Helpful when you have more than two people in the room. There was a kitchen area with a small fridge and microwave as well as a coffee pot. There is also a desk across from the kitchenette. There is no safe in the room. Bring a power bar if you need to recharge your phone etc. There is one plug by the bed which is for the lamp and alarm clock. No USB ports anywhere. The other outlets are located awkwardly on the wall across from the beds, which makes the wires a night-time tripping hazard if you want to recharge your phone overnight. One person in our group needed a CPAP machine and we had to unplug the alarm clock so that the CPAP could be plugged in. There was an AC unit which was either on (freezing) or off (too warm) and the "in between" settings didn't seem to work. There is a buffet style breakfast included but it was a poor breakfast and we only tried it once. There were two people working but due to Covid, you could not help yourself in typical buffet style. You line up and tell the server what you want. Long line up while one person serves and the other refills. Not worth the wait. The food ended up being poor quality and cold by the time you got it. I recommend breakfast at Chez Suzette, which is just steps away. Exit the hotel and turn left. Walk down about 50 feet to the stop sign and it's right on the corner. The crepes were great. Lots of restaurants to choose from along Rue Saint Paul. One restaurant in particular was a lovely surprise -- Jardins Nelson. As you walk along Rue Saint Paul, it looks like a nice place with a live band and a lovely interior. The surprise is that it's actually a seasonal restaurant, open from May to Canadian Thanksgiving as the whole interior is actually a courtyard. The food was good - great french onion soup, nice sandwiches, dinner crepes, etc. And for a dinner place, it was "pub" pricing. Very reasonable. Parking is tight - and I mean tight! - and a bit scary. They don't have enough spots so cars are parked along the ramp, essentially leaving only one lane on the ramp for both up and down. Goodness help you if someone is coming down as you are going up. Be sure to use the convex mirrors in the corners to make sure no one is coming from the other direction. Two tips with respect to cost: One: Book directly with the hotel. When we tried booking.com and a couple of other sites, the price was considerably higher than booking directly with the hotel. Two: If you don't have a CAA membership, get it for about $60. We saved almost $250 by having a CAA membership. Lots of hotels give a discount to CAA members, so you will save quite a bit through the year. Would I stay there again? Absolutely. Perfect location for Old Montreal, cost was very reasonable, especially with the CAA discount, and it was clean. It's not a "highend" hotel, but it served its purpose.

Great customer service

Reviewed 7 september, 2021

We made a reservation for three nights which we were greatly looking forward to. Unfortunately due to Covid requirements at the border between the US and Canada, we were not able to come to Montreal. The customer service for this hotel was fantastic and we definitely will choose this hotel for a stay as soon as travel becomes easier. Thank you Springhill Marriott Old Montreal.

Great Location and Value for Old Montreal

Reviewed 19 august, 2021

I didn't have high expectations and just decided to give it a try for one night with my wife and toddler and ended up staying two since it turned out to be quite pleasant. Granted a very useful upgrade (Diamond Member) to a corner suite with a fantastic rooftop terrace. This made a big difference. It was a busy tourist weekend with the city being packed, so the hotel was nearly fully booked, breakfast had long lineups, but we skipped to eat in the lovely restaurants and cafes in the old streets.... Parking can be found at the edge of old town. I'd be very willing to stay here again given the price, location and family friendly suites which have a fridge and kitchenette etc. If you are searching for more hip boutique type hotels, then yes, do choose something like hotel Nelligan.... but for travelling with children, this Springhill suites is very ideal
