Beautiful property but ruined by poor service and silly rules

Reviewed 27 january, 2021

This hotel was a frustrating place to stay. On the positive side, it is beautiful, the beach is right in front and the location is quiet, yet close enough to walk to town when you want to. Room is spacious and comfortable. However, they have so many rules to follow and the service is very poor. Despite being the most 'luxurious' hotel on the island, they make you wear a wristband on arrival (like a cheap Spanish party hotel) and also make you sign an inventory list saying you'll pay if you break something (never come across this in my life, felt like a backpackers hostel). Wifi is abysmal, you have to log in about 30 times every day and even then the signal is very poor, despite other properties on the island managing decent service. We asked them to make a dinner reservation for us and they said "we don't do that" despite 4 staff members standing in reception chatting and doing nothing. We asked for a 1 hour later checkout and they refused despite not being full that day and told us "that's the rules". Further, the swimming pool was very dirty and totally cloudy. Despite breakfast offering being decent, it was ruined by hundreds of flies swarming everywhere and them serving every dish on a tiny side plate, seemingly to stop guests from putting too much on the plate. Overall it feels like a missed opportunity. I suggest management visit other hotels and get a clue how to run a hotel that caters to guest needs rather than making up their own stupid rules & low standards.

Perfect relaxed vibe and welcoming staff

Reviewed 1 march, 2020

We were looking for a more low key vibe in Morro, and this place was exactly it! We spent our first night near second beach and it was way too busy and loud for us. The next morning we went searching for somewhere we could lay on the beach without the hustle and bustle and this was it. The staff was super welcoming and helpful getting us booked same day. We spent three days laying in lounge chairs, alternating between the pool and the ocean, and ate most our meals on the property. The food was great, the room was big and comfortable, and the massages were amazing. HIGHLY recommend getting a massage! We would have done one every day if we could.

Nice but it could be perfect

Reviewed 5 february, 2020

Lovely resort-like accommodation close enough to everything yet far enough to avoid the noise and the crowds. The constant music at the pool is a nuisance and spoils the enjoyment of the relaxing venue. The restaurant has good salads, the rest of the menu it’s average. The staff is nice and professional and overall the hotel is clean, but we did find an oversized cockroach in our bed and second one in our luggage. The hotel is close to nature so this may be a usual appearance, but perhaps more cleaning inspections are called for. The place could be just perfect because it has all the ingredients to be so: Great location, good size rooms, nice staff etc. But it just needs that bit of extra from the management to move up a notch and be the shining star in the area.

Great pousada but the constant music is very unpleasant

Reviewed 22 august, 2019

Great property, very clean and comfortable, good service, superb oceanfront location. I would give 100% but the constant music by the pool and in all the public area is anoying. A shame cause all we wanted is quietness. When asked, they turn the down, but not off :( My recomendation is just not put any music. If someone wants it, they have headfones...

On the beach.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is on second beach and around you there are many bars and restaurants to choose from. The rooms are comfortable and would be graded 3 stars in other places. Breakfast is served as part of the rate and is average to good. The staff at the hotel can be commended for their friendliness; especially the hotel manageress - 5 stars to her. Be aware that there are no cars on the island and you have to carry you luggage yourself to your hotel (which could be quite a distance away) or rent a wheel barrow taxis to transport all your luggage to your hotel or hostel - which in itself is an experience.
