Great Place to Stay!

Reviewed 13 september, 2021

This is a solid hotel. Our room was clean. The hot breakfast was good and had some decent variety throughout the week. All of the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Alexa, Jasmine, and Ashley. It's only about 10 minutes to the beach and downtown Charleston so the location was great.

Expensive price for no value

Avoid this dump at all costs! I can't believe we paid over $200 a night per room for this place. The room was filthy, the sheets threadbare, the furniture stained and the worst customer service I have ever witnessed. At checkin, I provided my ID and last name. The woman didn't even look up before literally throwing 2 sets of room keys at me. No indication of which room was what or even acknowledgement that I was there at all. Never looked up once! That was the case for our entire stay. This front desk clerk and another never bothered to look up when we walked by, We attempted the breakfast once. The lady was very rude and the food not great. Tasted like plaster of Paris gravy, but I must say the biscuit was ok. We requested new sheets and towels. Never came. We had to go down to front desk to retrieve ourselves. They gave us a pillow liner instead of a pillow case. There was a blood stain on our comforter. Pretty gross! Most dishes were in the dishwasher when we entered the room. The one glass on the shelf had a lipstick stain. Seriously bad experience. Times are good when you can charge $200 a night for this dump. I strongly recommend a different hotel!

Good price, clean

Great location between the beaches and Charleston. There was plenty of restaurants nearby and a shopping center for groceries. Room and bathroom was spacious and decent kitchen area. We stayed on 2nd floor and every morning could hear traffic on the highway or loud trucks in the parking lot. Many people had dogs, so it bothered my allergies. The beds were comfortable if you like firmer beds. Would bring my own pillow since they appear fluffy but are flat when you lay on it. Overall, nice stay and would return.

Definitely gone downhill

My husband travels to Charleston for work a lot, so we have stayed at this hotel multiple times and always for three weeks at a time. We keep coming back because of the great customer service and how clean and spacious the rooms are. We recently stayed from 3/8/21-3/26/21 and it was like a completely different hotel. There was a crusty, dirty knife sticking out from under the couch in our room and we only had one remote that we had to use for both tv's. We asked the lady at the front desk if we could get another remote. She said she would bring it right up but we never got it. We asked her the next day as well and she said the same thing... and we still never got it. We weren't having our room cleaned daily so we would go down to the front desk and ask for towels, shampoo and soap. We asked for all of these things multiple times during our three week stay and never got any of them. I ended up going to the store to buy shampoo and soap and we had to wash our own towels. One woman, who looked like she might be the manager was incredibly rude every time I would come down to the front desk. No matter what day or time of day the towels were always "being washed and we'll bring them up when they're done." Never got any towels. Also, there was some kind of crushed crackers right outside the door of our room we when checked in. Three weeks later and it was still there. Obviously they aren't vacuuming the hallways. We have always loved this hotel but our last stay was very disappointing.

Pleasantly Surprised

I had never stayed at a Towneplace Suites before. Admittedly, I prefer the same name hotel no matter where I am. I was in town for a wedding and needed a hotel that allowed dogs. This hotel was perfect! Perfectly located for what I needed, easily accessible. During this time of Covid, personnel were cleaning every time I walked through the lobby. Rooms were decorated very nice and comfortable.
