More about the hotel
Pleasantly Surprised
I had never stayed at a Towneplace Suites before. Admittedly, I prefer the same name hotel no matter where I am. I was in town for a wedding and needed a hotel that allowed dogs. This hotel was perfect! Perfectly located for what I needed, easily accessible. During this time of Covid, personnel were cleaning every time I walked through the lobby. Rooms were decorated very nice and comfortable.
Great place for good price
We booked one week before or trip to Mt. pleasant we got room with king bed. Price was very reasonable or this are. We where surprise that we had cool kitchen in our room. Great plus. Also check out is at 12!
Clean rooms, updated, wonderful staff!
We moved to TownePlace Suites from the Residence Inn over on Ripley Point Drive and thrilled that we did. The hotel quickly accommodated us at the last minute and were so gracious and cordial. The room was very clean, updated, and perfect for our needs(and they allow pets). The hotel offers free hot breakfast in the morning too. We’re so pleased with the accommodations and can’t thank the staff enough for their thoughtfulness and assistance. This is the place to stay while in Charleston. It’s a 15 minute drive to downtown (8 miles).
Newer property, dog friendly.
We stayed for several nights and also brought our dog. Their dog policy is $50 is currently per night. The website will tell you that it's $150 per stay, but that's no longer accurate. We liked their pet policy because you could still book the room of your choice (some hotels have designated animal rooms that are usually in worse shape). There seemed to be no COVID percussions apart from a glass screen at check-in. Other guests were a hit or miss with wearing masks. They closed down the breakfast area and provided a sack lunch that had a granola bar, water, and a muffin. Also, the lobby coffee is self serve, and while the hotel did provide gloves at the coffee station, there wasn't anyone keeping an eye on it, and I saw several people get coffee without gloves. Other hotels we've stayed at during COVID had the front desk make the coffee for guests to help keep the area clean. The room was clean and modern. It had both outlets and USB ports. The shower got plenty hot, and the air conditioning kept the room nice and cool. We had the AC on all night, and it kept the room at a constant temperature. The TV did require us to log into Netflix repeatedly (sometimes more than once a day), which was annoying. We were disappointed with housekeeping and staff interactions. When we checked into our room had a loaded dishwasher, and we were unsure if the dishes were clean or not. My understanding is that housekeeping should have emptied the dishwasher before we checked in. We also ran out of conditioner and asked for housekeeping to bring us a new bottle, but it never arrived. Lastly, as a Gold member, I asked for a late check out (2 pm), but housekeeping still knocked on our door to ask when we were checking out. Please have housekeeping coordinate with the front desk about checkout times instead of disturbing guests.
Marriott Covid 19 protocol not well practiced
As Marriott platinum, we expected the Covid protocol to be applied. Not so!! A sign was posted at the front door requiring to wear a mask but the staff at front desk did not have one neither guests within the inside of the hotel. Upon entering the room we found that the fridge/microwave had fingerprints, handles covered with stains, carpet not properly vacuumed so totally unacceptable with high level of cases in the area; So it did not make feel comfortable and had to clean myself. The kitchen is well appointed but the bed was not as comfy as other properties or bedding. The check in clerk was not very welcoming although prompt;the pool is very small making difficult to respect social distancing with more than 6 people, breakfast bags are handed out everyday and room service-towels-trash- must be requested at this time. Location is good and at the end of road you can shop at Save Money, Live better.. or get lunch in the nearby spot. Easy access to shops and restaurants.
