Most unhelpful hotel I've ever experienced
Before you read this, please note that I did not end up staying at this hotel, so my review does not include facilities/cleanliness etc as I do not know what they are like. What I do know is that this hotel refused to assist my request to alter my dates due to Corona virus, and have only been interested in taking my money. My trip was booked in Oct 2019, way before covid-19 was a thing. I admit that I booked on a non-refundable booking, but booking was to attend Oktoberfest which at the time we did not think we would not be going to! Since the event was cancelled, our reason for traveling became obsolete and I tried to re-arrange my booking. This is where my terrible experience starts. I booked for 8 people, paying in full at the time of the booking, over £1800. All the hotel were interested in was to keep my money. I have been able to alter flights no problem, but when I asked the hotel if it was possible to defer my stay all I was told that I had booked a non-refundable stay, and I had to sympathise with the hotel who have been struggling throughout the current pandemic. Yes I can sympathise with any business during these tough times, but I fail to see how deferring my booking to the following year is going to cause any harm. Even booking.com stepped in to assist my request which was again refused by the hotel. The hotel even said that Oktoberfest being cancelled was not a valid reason for not travelling, even though they are happy to increase their prices throughout the duration of the event. Please think twice before thinking of staying here, and if you do I sincerely hope you do not need to try and request a change of stay should any problem arise. Stand by for the hotels standard response, quoting their terms and conditions etc ......... Phil.
Perfect Location, Cozy Rooms
It takes just few minutes from Munich Central Station, by uber costs around 7-8€ You can also walk marienplatz, odeonsplatz even english garden. We did. Oberanger street just next to Hotel where you can find lots of stores. We did not make breakfast in the hotel, it was 10€. They have a very small and slow elevator but its ok. Rooms were hot enough and baths were clean. If i been in munich one more would i stay? I guess so.
Simple but pleasant
Spent two nights here ion business trip. Was a bit of last minute booking so normal hotels were fully booked, but it was fine. .Clean, good location and decent breakfast. Staff were helpful as well. Decor was a little "old", but as somewhere clean, tidy and functional in a central location to sleep for a couple of nights it was fine.
Good Place to Stay
We stayed here during the Christmas Markets. It was an easy walk from the Salingertor Station (be sure to use the correct exit which has an up escalator but no down escalator). There is a lot of construction in the area and heavy traffic,so exiting on the correct exit is a must! Coming from the airport with luggage, exit the metro car at Marinplatz and change lines to one going to Salinger Tor station. It is an easy walk with no luggage but with luggage and the crowds at the market, we decided to change lines. The check in was easy and friendly. Our prepaid reservation was without breakfast but they did have it available as well as a nice small bar. The elevator is very small but it held both of us and our luggage which is very small. The room was filled with charming antique furniture so if you want new and matching, this is not for you. The room was clean and the linens were nice. Our only complaint was the soap/body wash/shampoo was limited. We asked for more and received it with no problem. The gentleman at the front desk remembered our name and room number each time we saw him, even when we checked out for a few days and returned for a second stay. It is close to everything but away from the craziness.
Still a GREAT place to stay while visiting Munich!
We stayed here 2 years earlier and in our review stated that if we ever return to Munich, we'd stay here again. We did, and can say that if we ever return to Munich, we'd stay here AGAIN. Can't beat it. Spent two nights here. My earlier review stands, the linens and towels are of the same good quality. No soaps in the room still, and a comfy dual twin bed that is called a 'king.' This time we stayed in room 303 and faced the street. Due to the cold weather outside, we kept the windows closed and the room remained peaceful and quiet, but would still recommend staying in the back side of the hotel as we did on our first visit here because even with the windows open, it's stays peaceful and quiet. We booked via hotels.com on trip advisor because we found a better deal there than with the hotel directly, 98E/night plus tax. There is an elevator, but it's rather small. The room itself was of a nice size and pleasantly decorated. The gentleman and kind lady at the front desk were very helpful. The close location to the metro was nice, but on this trip, unlike our last one, we didn't use it at all. We'd highly recommend staying here and will certainly do so if we ever find ourselves in Munich again : )
