More about the hotel
Well...
…after Taschenbergpalais in Dresden last year and Adlon in Berlin early this summer I was quite sure to place a safe bet on Vier Jahreszeiten in München. I’m sorry to report I failed. We booked a “grand deluxe” for 3 nights, checking in on 28th. A week before our arrival we however had to change our schedule and shift our stay by anticipating by one day, still keeping the 3 nights. The change was confirmed with a nice talk over the phone with the reservation desk. So, we arrived in town on Sep. 27 late morning by private car. Upon check-in we were assigned room 410 on the fourth floor (which weirdly appears to be mixed with the third one). The property is quite large, the lobby sumptuous, the staff (everybody included, no exception) were friendly and charming, breakfast good with some service limitations because of the pandemic. The room was however disappointing. Massively. Rather smallish, awkwardly architected, with a wild mix of old and modern worn forniture (see photos for some reference) with many scratches on walls, carpet smell and a bulky wooden luggage holder which couldn't be removed. The bathroom showed signs of quick & superficial maintenance between floor tiles and plumber's putty. Although quiet and with a comfortable bed the room turned out quite cold, especially the bathroom which became icy when the first sunny day turned in a rainy night and the external temperature dropped significantly. We discussed the matter with housekeeping which indicated that there was no possibility to heat the room thru forced ventilation, as it was still in “summer mode”. They offered to install an electric portable radiator. So for the next two days we ended up playing around with the device placing it alternatively in the room and in the bathroom according to the needs. To conclude with a gourmet note, we had dinner at Little London Bar & Grill, located on Tal 31 (a magnificent, tasty, juicy Chateaubriand) and at Pfistermühle, located on Pfisterstraße 4. Both within walking distance from the hotel.
Excellent city break
I visited Munich with my dughter for a short break & having previously had a fabulous break at the Keminski in Vienna decided to go with the Munich Kempinski & it met all our expectations & we had a fabulous few days. The service, quality of rooms, food were all excellent, thank you all at the Vier Jahreszeiten for making us so welcome in such difficult times.
Amazing
This hotel is everything you can wish for. It starts with the service that is excellent and also the interior is beautiful. It is also great that the GM is there to welcome his guests. Our suite was quite modern, but it was elegnt and it was facing to inner court so it was quiet. I might be old fashioned but the toilet was not my favorite with all the buttons and a bit noice it was making, but closing the door it did not matter. Bed was super as well as the cleanliness of the room. Spa was beautiful and in the qym the Covid19 measures were excellent as between ever machine there was a thick see through plastic. The bar is great and Mr Julius really knows how to make customers to feel at ease. The food was also good and breakfast full. This hotel is really taking care of its customers and because Covid19 the hygiene side was really taken care of.
Unbelievable
Where to begin. Everything was first class, from the spa to the service. The room was excellent, really beautiful. Food was amazing. Cocktails were excellent and the service is second to none. Worth every penny. Best hotel I have stayed at.
Dissapointing
I spent 1 night at the Kempinski in Munich and the experience was both underwhelming and disappointing. The service was friendly but I did not find it warm, the interior is luxurious but not grand, my room had a tiny window to the courtyard and an air-con control that was very fickle and the service at the lobby bar was slow and aloof. For a top 5 star establishment (and the price to go with it) it lacked a wow factor for me. I will not return.
