Outstanding Hotel and Staff

Reviewed 3 december, 2021

My wife, son, and I chose the Mandarin for our first ever visit to Munich. We had read that the service was on par with the Four Seasons which has always been great in our experience. I would have to say that the Mandarin could even be considered better than the Four Seasons experience now that we have stayed here at this hotel. The staff from street entrance to front desk to concierge as well as the restaurant and lobby lounge were all excellent without exception. When you are paying a good price for a hotel then you should get great service and we certainly did. The front desk and concierge staff were of great help in our navigation of the latest COVID restrictions and rules. The rooms were spacious, quiet, and the cleaning/turndown staff had a knack for getting everything right and on time even though we never seemed to see them. Our entire stay was stress free from airport pickup to transfer to the train station for our next leg to Berlin. We will definitely stay here again whenever we return to Munich.

Best hotel in Munich by far. Excellent in every aspect!

We had a phenomenal weekend at the MO. This was our second stay at the MO Munich. This time, we were invited by the management of the hotel to make up for our rather disappointing stay a year ago just shortly after they had reopened after the COVID lockdown. And this time, they really delivered! Location of the hotel is obviously perfect, in the heart of the old town, next to Hofbräuhaus and upscale shopping on Maximilianstrasse, opera house within walking distance. They do offer valet parking service at a nearby garage. After a very warm welcome by front of house and a pleasant and quick check-in experience we received a massive (!) upgrade from the booked Mandarin Room to the Panoramic Suite, a name well deserved considering the spectacular views of the Munich skyline it offers (see photo evidence). Be advised to book/ask for a West-facing room on the upper floors or you will probably be looking at a huge construction site (they are currently building an extension to the hotel with residences and a proper spa); or visit the rooftop bar to enjoy the view. Champagne and some snacks were waiting for us every day. The suite itself was very spacious with ultra modern amenities such as wireless charging integrated in the nightstands and in the working desk, electronic curtains and blinds, very efficient A/C, big smart TVs, spacious dressing area and a huge modern bathroom with my favourite TOTO washlet. They did a great job with the renovation: the decor was simple and modern with some tasteful contemporary art on display, but still managed to remain kind of cosy by reflecting a sense of the city and local flair; furniture was from high end manufacturers (e.g. sofa by flexform) and everything felt new and very high-quality. The terrace and the views were simply stunning. You could even lie in bed and enjoy the view. Best thing was the bed which was one of the best we have ever slept in. We tried to buy one from the Mandarin online shop, but unfortunately all beds were already sold out. No wonder!!! The hardware of the hotel is superb without any doubt, but what made our experience truly special is the interaction with the people working at the MO. Maybe it’s also its size that keeps the MO very personal. From the bellhops and the concierge/front desk, to maids and room service and the breakfast/restaurant teams, they were all super friendly, proactive and good for a small chat. Breakfast was superb and we were wondering how they were able to deliver such a great breakfast service with such a “small” breakfast team and Covid restrictions in place whereas at competing hotels in Munich with their dozens of breakfast waiters you would really need to make an effort to hail down someone to order another coffee… Service was very personalised. Everyone knew us by our names and appeared to be genuinely interested in how our stay was. The entire team gave the impression to be really passionate about what they do and that really showed in the way they were approaching their guests. When we were checking out and wanted to settle incidentals, the answer was: “Thank you, but all has been taken care of!” The MO had simply waived the entire bill, still in order to compensate us for our precious stay. It’s obviously not so much about costs of incidentals when you decide to stay at the MO, but this level of generosity towards its guests and this kind of willingness and effort to make up for a mistake, that is true class and real customer care, at a level we have never experienced throughout our extensive travels. It is really with great joy that we see the return of the MO Munich to the level of hospitality the brand is known for. Together with the tasteful renovation of the rooms/suites and the impressive rooftop, the Mandarin is playing in a league of its own; we could not think of any better place to stay in Munich.

A beautiful “new” hotel with renovated state of the art rooms !

Reviewed 18 november, 2021

Our last stop in our European tour, we chose this hotel because they had just completed their renovations and boy did we strike gold! The rooms are completely renovated to the highest standards, luxurious and oh so beautiful! We got an upgrade that put us at the top floor facing the beautiful cathedrals and inside we found so many complimentary gifts of champagne & cakes because they knew of our anniversary celebration. The pictures on their website doesn’t do it justice. They even include state of the art hair dryer and hair styling tools that all ladies will welcome! Stay here now if you can to enjoy this beautiful property at the best location too! Thank you for making our stay magical :)

Absolutely wonderful. Great MO hotel

After a long absence we finally stayed again at the MOMUC and it was awesome. The renovation was a great deal and the rooms and public spaces look terrific. Service was top notch and our room was absolutely wonderful. I like that MO takes special care of their Friends of MO members and Elite members. Only point of criticism: the breakfast is subpar to other hotels in this price range.

Exceptional hotel, in great location

You would expect a Mandarin Oriental to be perfect, and their Munich property certainly is. The rooms are not huge, but luxuriously appointed - and one of the best beds you will find. The team are great, particularly those at breakfast. We ate dinner in both Nobu (amazing!) and the rooftop - this one was average, and maybe my expectations were too high. Definitely recommend this for a luxury stay in Munich
