Brilliant hotel for an overnight to airport

This hotel was a real surprise. The rooms are spacious, the bed incredibly comfortable and it has a great restaurant. It had a really great feel to it. We parked our car here for 2 weeks for our flight abroad. As you exit the hotel cross the road to the other carriageway heading in the opposite direction and you can catch the local bus which goes directly to the airport. It was a few pounds. The bus goes every 10 minutes or so. We decided to get a cab on the way back as we were unsure where to find the bus.
An AMAZING 6* Experience.

We were staying in another hotel but decided to eat in the Sheraton’s Cast Iron restaurant. Desmond (front office) was particularly helpful in guiding us to the hotel by acting as our Sat Nav, as the current road works caused some confusion. The service we received from Tamara, Resmon & Head Chef Lee in the restaurant was outstanding, the food tasted delicious, was cooked to perfection, & served professionally. After dinner we took the opportunity to inspect a room. The receptionist Florentina, who kindly escorted us, was so caring, considerate, welcoming & extremely competent we decided to change hotels for our intended short stay of 4 days. Due to unforeseen circumstances this will become a longer stay & we are so overwhelmed by the service given by ALL THE STAFF (too many to mention individually by name), however it would be remiss not to mention Adriatic from the morning shift & Ash,( Director of Operations) whom we met by chance whilst dinning here on the first night, who has been exceptionally understanding of our situation & has shown what good management should be. His leadership must have been inspirational & contagious as ALL THE STAFF have been equally polite, caring, helpful & professional. A massive “thank you to you all”. We felt we wanted to share our experience with fellow travellers as without doubt should you need to stay in this area based on our experiences, the Sheraton is the NUMBER ONE place to stay. Having travel the world during which we have stay at many Leading Hotels of The World, the standard of service here at the Sheraton Heathrow is equal to the very finest we have experienced from hotels like Mandarin Oriental, Bellagio, Peninsula & Aman Chain. Congratulations to the management who have excelled in leading from the front & ensured the staff are providing TOP SERVICE WITH A SMILE & SINCERITY.

Excellent hotel. Friendly staff, gorgeous food. We had a family room which was a double and twin with interconnecting door. The rooms were lovely, clean bright and large. Couldn’t fault a single thing. We ate in the restaurant for our meal. Food was excellent and kids had free meal so very reasonably priced, especially given the location. Breakfast was included in hotel price and there was plenty of food and if anything need replenishing the staff immediately acted
Just not up to par

Hotel Name: Sheraton Heathrow Location: Colnbrook Bypass, West Drayton This is purely a Heathrow airport hotel location. There is virtually nothing of note within walking distance. And a paid bus or taxi are the only modes of transport to/from the terminals. The hotel does not provide it’s own shuttle for guests and instead relies on a bus service that guests must pay for. Upon arrival, my husband commented to me, “it looks like an asylum” (meaning industrial and institutional looking) in reference to the rather drab appearance of the building and surroundings. Upon walking in to the lobby, it was clear that recent work had been put in to the public spaces, which were fully modern, clean, and appeared to be in good condition. Room: Our room was paid for using Bonvoy points and I have to say, was a major disappointment! The bathroom sink has a small plaque on it noting to avoid drinking the water (So hard to believe this that I have included a photo!). To the hotel’s credit, they supplied a bottle of water for use. And when I opened the curtain, I was greeted by nothing other than a lovely view of a dumpster filled discarded hotel furniture and trash! I was not expecting any form of spectacular view, given the location. But this was, frankly, disappointing indeed! The bed was odd! Two twin bed mattresses pushed together, with a single sheet dropped over BOTH (one sheet for two mattresses). Each twin mattress then had a duvet cover ONLY! No sheet between you and the duvet. Again, weird! I can only hope that the whole duvet is washed after each guest! In room furnishings appeared to be relatively new, but very inexpensive (“cheap!”). Bathroom: This was a typical Sheraton bathroom space (minus the “Do not drink the water” sign). The shower was a little tight, but work-able. But once used, it dripped….all night long! No matter how many ways one tried to adjust it, there was just no way to get it to stop dripping! Thank god for ear plugs! WiFi: The wifi signal was good and the speeds were adequate to good. Connecting was simple. Restaurant: Having read many negative reviews about the restaurant, we were leery about eating here! But we were exhausted and decided to try it. We were pleased! I had fish and chips (some of the better ones I’ve had on my trip, though I don’t understand why Brits leave the skin on!), and my husband’s hamburger was reported to be okay. A previous reviewer wrote that the restaurant smelled of curry. There was not even a hint of curry smell. And I fear it may have even been a racist commentary that would just be wrong! The staff were attentive and we had a fine dinner! The breakfast buffet was your standard fare. Nothing to write home about at all! And like many hotels, lacked any imagination in terms of offerings. Staff: All of the staff were pleasant. My only complaint was in being checked out. The young lady helping us was called over by another agent and could be heard explaining to the agent that she never told a patron something, and kept arguing her point. Meanwhile, our taxi was waiting outside. Not a big deal, per se. But it would have been a nice touch to have had that conversation after she was done checking us out, and not in the middle of the process. Overall: Despite the recent refurbishment, and decent dining experience, I can’t recommend this hotel in terms of holding value for prices being charged. Owners invariably will respond to these reviews, as they should, and talk about how they are going to talk about it to their teams, “make a plan for improvement”, and “hope you give another chance”. I can’t say that we will likely return to this establishment the next time we need to overnight at Heathrow. The prices just simply do not reflect the quality/value received during our stay.
