PURE CHARM IN BAVARIA
Forget you are in Germany: you are not, this is Bavaria! Forget about hotels: this is a friend's home! Forget about Munich: this is the Starnberg lakeshore. FAR OUT. This Burgerhouse is very well decorated, real antiques, very carefully selected wall pictures, nice colors in the interior design, cotton cloth tainted curtains sweeping the floor, beautiful china and cutlery. Entrance through beautiful ground floor dining rooms. (Beautifully furnished and decorated). Nice traditional Bavarian architecture. Very comfortable room, extreme cleanliness, good breakfast, everything perfect, excellent report cost quality. owners and managers friendly and sympathetic. Cool atmosphere. The surroundings allow to park easily near the church or near the Lake. Superb lakeshore walks, sailing school nearby (windsurf, catamarans !). Nearby bar and restaurants also friendly and welcoming (one at the sailing school, see picture, good steakhouse nearby). Forget Munich : stay there and just meditate and remember romantic King Ludwig, Richard Wagner's main sponsor, who mysteriously died in this Lake!
Good food and good kitchen
In an area where good restaurants are not common, this gasthaus combined good quality fish and good cooking ability. This review is NOT about the hotel ! it is about the restaurant. OK OK OK THIS IS A REVIEW ON THE RESTAURANT.
Great food!
I didn't stay here but I had an evening meal with a colleague. The food here is really exceptional - I was surprised to find such a great place in such a remote tiny village. They use local ingredients, the steak I had was hands down one of the best I've had in a long time. A trip to the lake or the mountains could easily take this place in for some good food.
Outstanding service of the highest degree
We stopped to eat at this guest house on our way to Austria, having flow into Munich. Our party was made up of 8 people including 1 teenager and 3 vegetarians. I have been lucky enough to travel around much of the world and stay and eat in some top notch places. The service here goes above and beyond. They spoke English so did not miss a single comment we made. Everything we wanted was accommodated. The food was delicious and us vegetarians not only found ourselves well catered for, we had a choice! We were so impressed we enquired about booking a table on our return journey. We were going to have to have a brunch and we needed to arrive literally as they opened for food. That was all no problem. On arrival our table in the restaurant was all set and the chef was ready in the kitchen. We had a little spare time so we opted to have a coffee outside in the sun. Everything we requested was brought quickly. My Father commented that we were having coffee as none of us had eaten so alcohol was not a good idea! Within minutes we were served the most Devine tray of hors d'oeuvres. The chef came out to explain what they all were and which were vegetarian. The food, the service, the presentation and the venue are all outstanding . I feel using the word outstanding is insufficient to truly explain the level of service here. We didn't get to experience the guest house side, but I am sure the standards will be the same. I would highly recommend getting off the motorway and stopping here a while if you can. You will not be disappointed. It
Good place - just noisy
We stayed with our one year old son for 4 nights. The hotel is in a remote location with a few other guest houses and restaurants nearby. It is very close to the lake and highway exit. Most of the rooms are equipped with a small kitchenette. Our room was rather small for the three of us. Other rooms are a bit bigger and there is one suite. The breakfast was pretty good. The staff and owner are very friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the noise level due to the proximity of the road. It was hot and we had to open the windows during the night (no aircon). There is not much traffic late in the evenings, but traffic starts again in the early morning. Other rooms oriented to the backside might have been less noisy than ours.
