Summer 2021

Reviewed 19 october, 2021

Rented a two bedroom through Vrbo, was just as pictured. We liked the resort and the restaurant on the beach, staff and food there were great! Resort location is great. Beach was great, nice and clean. Restaurant at adjoining resort was only average.

resort-wide construction, rude staff and disgusting room

Reviewed 14 october, 2021

If I could give this resort 1/2 star, I would do so. With the exception of 1 individual at the front desk, ALL staff were extremely rude and short. The room that we paid nearly $260 to "upgrade" to was subject to loud, obnoxious construction work, both at the resort, and individual owner levels that was NOT communicated to RCI, which is MANDATORY. When I talked to the front desk, the manager refused to compensate us whatsoever. The indoor pool was closed for construction and no one informed us. The outdoor water park was closed for the season. The room we stayed in had the smoke alarm torn out, to which we obviously informed the front desk at BEST and, like the manager, used the 3x5 card response of "these units are individually owned so some people can do that". I may consider calling the authorities to let them know of this, as it seemed wholly irresponsible, and I have to believe that the resort would have the final say regarding safety equipment, even over individual ownership. Suffice it to say that we will NEVER stay here again and have already let RCI know about how this resort is being run. It is no surprise that it has an overall rating of 1 1/2 stars, which is more than it deserves. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Never again!

Reviewed 26 september, 2021

We have stayed here multiple times but this will be out very last. We have never been treated like this before. We had called the week before our arrival to check to make sure the water park would be open. We were assured that even though it's off season, that it will still open on weekends only. We go to check in and was told the owner decided to close it early... not only was that the answer we received, it was delivered sarcastically. They did decide to open it last minute AFTER we had already made other plans for the day. They gave us free vouchers for the black light mini golf and then changed the open hours after we had been sitting there half an hour waiting for them to open. Guess what is in the building with the mini golf? The indoor pool and hot tub... which we couldn't use. We tried to get ice cream.. guess what? Closed early. We paid entirely too much money (almost $400! For 2 nights in the off season!) to not be able to use half of the amenities and get constant sarcasm when asking. When we complained to front desk, the response we got was "sorry they didn't tell us they changed" this was not the sand dunes we have stayed at before!

Nice but a bit dated

Reviewed 22 september, 2021

The staff was very nice and the location is good. Close to everything. I booked my room through a golf site. If you do not mind the families with kids. I would say this is a good place to stay. Nice pool and right on the beach.

All fun and games until Roaches, Room 2438

Reviewed 20 september, 2021

Firstly, I am really sad that I did not take photos, but my goal was to disconnect from a phone. My boyfriend and I traveled for a several day vacation. It was our first vacation since really COVID started. It was the first time he's ever been to MB, so I was really pumped for the trip. I honestly thought the facility itself was great. They did a lot to keep it looking clean and that is hard for an ocean front property with so many guests. The room I had was an ocean front room with two queen beds. I was very concerned about the room based off of the photos I'd seen prior to booking. We were surprised to walk into a pretty modernized room. Our room number was 2438. It was located on the 4th floor in the Northshore building. There were cabinets and drawers that were modern and clean. There was a Keurig coffee maker on the counter. There was a full sized refrigerator in there, which was definitely not expected but I was excited about. There was a vinyl flooring and no carpet, which was awesome! The beds were clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean. The shower had a rain showerhead, that was also nice. Overall, the facility had a lot of options for things to do. It was in a GREAT location. Two things that I find severely wrong with this place; Customer Service Skills, Cleanliness/Lack of Roaches. When we arrived, both people at the front desk didn't even acknowledge us at all. When we went down to exchange towels, two people were talking behind a wall and couldn't be bothered. Then had an attitude for not interrupting them with a bell. I do understand with COVID running around, there's only so much that everyone can do. Attitudes are unnecessary. On night two, I discovered a roach in our bathroom. My boyfriend and I captured it and flushed it down the toilet. I let that go. I am someone with a deep fear of bugs in general and someone who has some serious allergies, I was able to push that away and move on as it could have been a one off situation. I understood that. We didn't have any other problems with that until Saturday. We went to the pool... they were all over the ground and crawling on the walls. I'm not talking about 2-3 of them, we're talking at least a dozen. It didn't surprise me... as there was trash under all of the chairs around the pool. Plastic bottles, beer tops, empty soda cans, a fresh pineapple from the restaurant across the way... We get back to the room later that night, and there were at least 3 or 4 on the wall inside of our room. At this point, something has to give. It is posted that they do pest control. I called the front desk. The two girls couldn't even be bothered. I explained that we have discovered a few roaches in the room. The first thing I asked for was a different room, they declined that. I looked online to see if there was another room available, there was in a different part of the facility. So, then I asked if I could get a single night's refund, I was also declined that. They offered for someone to come up immediately and spray... I let them know up front that that wasn't going to help not even for just a night. I agreed to let someone come up and spray. In the mean time, my boyfriend and I were already in the midst of packing our things to start taking to our car because we were checking out the next morning. We discussed if it was worth staying the night because he knew that I was going to get zero sleep after seeing all of those roaches crawling above the bed. Within the 30-45 minutes, no one came. We decided to just leave. We were going to be expected to sleep in a room with roaches and if someone sprayed, roaches and pesticides blowing through the air. I was not okay with that. So, on my way out, I let the girls know that I wasn't upset with them and I wasn't trying to be a jerk, but the way that was handled was not correct and they did very little to resolve any of the situation. I asked for their manager and that person's manager as well. They essentially didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. They took the room keys and told us to have a nice night. Well, I did reach out to their operations person with my complaint (everything you see here) and a request for my receipt. My complaint was not acknowledged at all. "Attached is your receipt" and his e-mail signature. That was all. I am perhaps disheartened that this place operates on such a lack of care for their patrons who spend their living wages on place they hope to meet friendly faces and are met with a safe environment to sleep in. Sadly, you're not finding either of those things here. I know these are things that will not change overnight. If you should choose to do so, please know that it is at your own risk. If you can look past terrible customer service and roaches, you'll rate this place a 5/5.
