Location, location, location
This hotel is ideally located (hence the title of my review), a couple of minutes on foot away from the train station (and the old town) of Brig. It's in Naters, on the other side of the river, but both cities are really one big town. It is quite old and in need of some love, but in the process of being renovated. My room was small, but ultra clean and super comfy. The bathroom was nothing short of spectacular: it was like stepping through time to the Eighties, with dark brown ceramic tiles everywhere (yet, again, super clean). And my one true criticism of the place was the shower. I had the feeling of showering under the tears of a Swiss banker (i.e. no pressure in the shower whatsoever). The staff was friendly enough (and spoke perfect French, which was awesome for me). So all in all, you won't get a five-star hotel, but you'll get a clean place and friendly faces, all that with a train station at a couple of hundred paces.
shower in our room
The shower is situated next to the window, so if you leave the shower, everybody can see you. The shower is not in a different space (only the sink and wc). Wifi is ok. Staff is friendly and the food is good.
POOR QUALITY HOTEL
My wife and I stayed here for two nights whist touring with a coach party. The hotel is ideally situated in the town with good parking outside and a large well stocked supermarket two doors away. However it is an old hotel and the furnishings and decorations were poor. The carpets were worn and certain areas needed repainting. However, it was kept clean during our short stay. The one lift couldn't cope with carrying more than two people at a time although it was supposed to be able to carry three persons Our bedroom was was large enough with adequate wardrobe and storage space but there was only a few coat hangers. The bed was low but comfortable. There were no tea or coffee making facilities available but there was free Wi-Fi and a free safe to use The bedroom was very hot and there was no air conditioning. However the bedroom window could open fully but this was dangerous for young children as they could easily climb up and possibly fall out. Not all the adaptors fitted the plug sockets as it depended on the diameter of the pins on each individual adaptor. The bathroom size was adequate but it had inadequate lighting due to the dark wooden ceiling and dark wall tiles. In addition it became very hot due to the heat from the lights either side of the bathroom mirror. The shower (no bath) was efficient. but there was no hot water available if showering or washing before 7.30am. There were also small steps into and out of the bedroom and into and out of the bathroom which caused tripping problems. Breakfast was buffet style and choice of food and drinks was OK but the only hot food available was boiled eggs and there was no toaster. As we were with a coach party there was no choice of food for dinner but the meat was under cooked and it took over two hours to complete the meal. All the staff we came into contact with were friendly and efficient. Overall a poor hotel.
Nice and central
Good location, very simple, but strategic: definitely good value-for-money. Parking lots are right outside the hotel and public transportation can bring you proply to the ski complex which is outstanding!
Large 3 bed rooms
We had a large 3 bed room in Hotel Touring on the 2nd floor. It was not super modern but had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and they offered one bottle of sparkling water a day. Service was good and the lady in the reception very helpful. Parking is just outside. To walk to Brig takes about 20min. There were some restaurants along the street just outside the hotel
