Stayed at this wonderful hotel for 2 nights.Firstly the location is lovely. Away from the rat race ,but close enough to do lots of things in your car. We both
loved this place. The lovely welcome on checkin ,and to all the staff in the restaurant, who gave a extremely good service to us at breakfast. The breakfast was very nice , with a top up of drinks if required. We were also allowed to have our takeaways in the restaurant in the evenings. All the staff were accomodating with plates laid out and drinks. We stayed in a Shepherds Hut no 21, which included outside table and chairs. It was so gorgeous to wake up in this beautiful hut, overlooking the garden and hotel veranda. The hotel and huts were extremely clean, and great quality bed linen . The covid safety was good.I would not hesitate to stay there again. Its a beautiful place , with great staff. You will not be dissapointed.
Not so Spot On in the Woods.

So treated myslef to a slightly more expensive hotel than normal at over £130.00 but its not worth it.
Other reviews have said it, it needs a refurb, shabby chic is so 10 years ago.
So on the Wednesday before got a call to say a problem with my room and they would have to move me to another, but there would be a discount, well that never happened so not sure what happened there.
Room was lovely but the bathroom, sorry no. The shower was looking grubby, the silicon round the floor was dirty and the shower seemed to have a problem given anything but tepid water.
Sadly the cafe was closed as they are having staffing issues (no surprise at this time) so you will have to go in to Lyndhurst for food, try out Surfing Mo Mo great resturant.
Breaffast in the morning was very good, let down again by the shabby chic, needed a coat of paint table.
I stayed 2 night the the Royal Wells hotel Tunbridge for the same price as 1 here, know that was a hotle.
Needs a Refurb

Disgusted that I had paid for a deluxe room and got a run down room please check in advance. I did complain got an apology and told there will be a refurb soon. It is a shame as great location it really needs some TLC and lower prices in its current state

This is rated as a 3 star hotel but the staff are definitely 5 star and its usually the people that contribute to an experience.
Our room, rm 6, had a big terrace which was great to enjoy after long walks through the New Forrest.
The rooms are well equipped and have loads of plug sockets.
Breakfast is served in the 'Kitchen 'at the table and can be taken in or outside. Again, excellent and vegetarian and vegans catered for.
Dogs are welcome guests. We don't have one but all seemed very well behaved. We tried to extend our stay but we're unable to as no vacancies and I can see why. Will definitely return. Thank you to the lovely team at Spot In The Woods 😊
